Matchmaking issue for import consoles (X360)

I have a JPN X360 but I currently reside on the east coast of the US. Based on the way the matching system works, I sometimes have a difficult time finding a match in a reasonable timeframe.

Here's what I suspect..Since my console is a JPN model, the matching system thinks I am in japan so my "Same area" is Asia. Of course I see many on the list but a good connection is few and far between. However, if I select worldwide, I get many good connections but that's assuming someone even shows up in the list at all. The problem is that not many people are choosing the "worldwide" matching option overall.

Based on this, it can often be frustrating to find a decent game in a reasonable timeframe (no matter if player, rank or room match).

Anyone have any thoughts on finding more games in a more reasonable amount of time? Am I doing it wrong? Am I just screwed? Or are games on this side of the pond just scarce overall?

I'm glad someone finally bring up this topic and apparently a lot of Asian players suffer this region restriction.

Can you make sure that all players you search are Japanese? Or just bad connection instead?

Its not all Japan but they are all neighboring areas such as Korea etc. Basically, Asia. This is if I choose "Same Area". Now on "Worldwide" setting, after I finally happen to find someone, they are usually people also within the US but there are the occasional others as well (the other day I played someone from France with a full and solid connection. No hiccups at all. Perhaps he was really in the US and has to do like I mentioned above to get a match as well)

Hum, it's interesting. I thought XBL is based on IP address to distinguish the areas, because you are not able to change the console setting to switch your region to play FS.

The situation is, all Asian players are not allowed to reach JP players on "Same Area", but SEGA does put the rest of regions into the same basket. For example, TW,HK, and KR can search each other but no JP at all.

It's shame that if SEGA isolates Japan...

Have you tried changing your system settings' region to US?

My wild guess: perhaps it has to do with your using a Japanese Xbox Live account?

    Nope...us account.

I'll also add that as far as i've noticed, this is the only game where I face this issue, at least as far as i've noticed.

I have the same problem but from the opposite side. Living in Japan with a US system. I changed my language and locale to japan (and even the time setting if that ever makes a difference). I even made a Japanese account. I keep getting matched up with people from the US.

This is also the only game that has this issue. If I play any other game, simply changing the locale fixes the issue instantly.

So, after coming home from clubbing late last night I thought I'd try some FS on my PS3. However, I just realised I'm in the same situation as resist and Ken_I due to the fact that I have a Japanese PS3 system.

I tried switching between language settings as well as using different region accounts. Unfortunately, I was only matched up with Japanese players with the game showing green connection icons always. The matches were unplayable due to so much lag, but actually better than I remember it was during Vanilla.

Like resist said, I have no chance searching for European players since the lists are always full of Japanese VF junkies.

For those having problems, did you download FS from the Japanese side or the US/EU side?

Like what has already been said, most games/apps work out regional content based upon the user account origination, locale setting and IP address. To give an example, hulu would go to the Japan side on my US Live account even with a US IP when the locale wasn't set to US.

PSN is based on PSN account region. If you want to search Eur players, you need to register a Eur account. Currently I'm using a USA console with a JP account so it's confirmed.

Im playing on Japanese console, using us regional setting, us game, etc (everything us except the console)

Lots of JPN/Asia games to choose from, just poor connections. Some US games to choose from from those using worldwide as their setting.

Solution: every must start using worldwide setting =)
