1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Just a thought: now that most people have given up hope that console FS is ever going to materialize, has anyone thought about trying to get an R board for their local scene?

I'm not sure if it's feasible, but I did see one listed for about $1800 when doing a yahoo.jp search. While that's not cheap, it seems people are still playing & I'm guessing if VF6 ever does materialize, it's at least 18 months away from console at this point

I'm not sure what sega's policy for this stuff used is, but obviously there's now thousands of copies of R gathering dust in Japan... better than nothing? At least people could be playing Jean/Taka?

I would be happy to contribute towards getting a R machine in the UK, for example with money/button/levers for maintenance, as long as the machine was placed in a location easily accessible by everybody, not just London people.

so the 5 people who play VF outside London can access it? Nah, get on the bloody train [IMG]

Made me think though. If by some miracle FS is released, would it be possible to get an arcade version? If they don't release for arcades, i'd expect it to end up in arcades anyway in a way the gives sega no money.

This is why the UK fighting game scene is shit. All you London people just play within London and can't be fucked to travel anywhere, expecting others to do that for you.

I didnt say that. But yes, I would pay to have a machine 2 hours from here, rather than 4. London is just too far from everywhere else in UK. besides, theres about 5 people playing in London too!

Went to London a couple of times to meet up and play, and even entered a Neo Empire tourney (which was terribly scheduled and ruined the whole day as I was sat in Yates' Bar for 3hours longer than expected).

I heard Seidon wrote on VFDC that he would hold a VF tourney round his, and even offered prize money and no London people could be fucked to travel so it never even happened.

R doesnt work unless you are connected to the sega servers and to have an account on those, you need to have a japan residence with a japan IP. Yes you can emulate a japanese IP but unless you are a member of all.net, the game will not work.

I tried to buy an R board directly from sega through friends at AM2 and thats what they told me on more than one occasion. About a year after that, I saw some chinese guys got a hold of one and posted hardware/DVD pics on VFDC. Since I didnt see any pictures of them playing it after the initial pics of the hardware and disc, I suspect they wasted their money.

An arcade machine requires JP IP address to to play a disc? SEGA had decided to prohabited VF oversea at the very first moment...

Yep. Its nothing new. I've been trying to get a hold of an R since 2008 and I just gave up after a while.

This game has to run on a server and Link play. Sega is on some other shit nowadays.

Is that the case for VF4:FT machines, too???

no. FT works without the network. you just can't access any of the card goodies (aside from win ratio).

Card has magnetic strip like any credit card. It records win/loss, if you have items, etc. When the FT Machine was running at AI, people that had sent cards to Japan for verification and connection with a VFnet account would see ring names and items on their characters. With no verification, my Akira changed gi colors at 5th kyu and First Dan. My name was NO-NAME.

I may have earned items. I could not have known unless my card was used in a VF machine connected to VFnet and I had an account.

Cards were "used up" after 500 games. Our machine allowed data transfer to new, empty cards. The owner of AI had cards for sale for $5 each. I think I transferred my data twice.

So the items you obtain were random and cpu dress you randomly?
