A meaty attack is an attack that you time on your opponent rising from the ground so that it hits during the first frame the opponents hurtbox appears. Whether it's teching inplace or to the side or just rising from the ground without a kick you can land a meaty attack on an opponent.

    Pros include:
    - Meaty attacks can't be evaded with sidestep (you'll get hit)
    - Meaties can not be sabakied or reversed (you'll get CH'd)
    - If the attack you are using has multiple active frames and it gets blocked on the latter frames you are safer (or more advantaged) than you'd normally be.

So if you can land meaties and have good moves to use for it then it's pretty much the best thing to do vs waking opponents to force them to simply standing block as that's the only thing they can do.

Best options include moves that launch on any hit (including crouchers), mid hit-throws or moves that have nice + frames. It's mostly about mids but there are good meaty lows too (as the only way to avoid that is to lowblock).

EDIT: Oh, there are also situations and certain setups that allow your meaty to hit or get blocked from the side as the opponent is waking up. Most easily achieved by causing a spinning knockdown and having the opponent roll in the opposite direction than the way they are spinning. Some setups can lead to this by simply using evade into dash after combos.

You have to just block them. If you don't block you take the hit. Period. But the timing to get a meaty is not always easy.

ok, so how do i pull off a meaty with aoi or goh

you should probably ask to goh and aoi content manager, i'm not familiar with those 2 characters to tell you when you can get a meaty. Anyway usually to find a meaty i program the cpu to evade, then i start a combo with a semicircular attack, i end the combo and when they perfect tech roll i try to find the move that can get me a meaty attack. If you need more time you can use dashes, evades and combine this 2 metods to see if you can get a meaty attack. IF the meaty attack works you will get a clean hit without counter hit.

    what do you mean

ok let me explain that with an example. With Wolf i usually ends combos with a specific move and my opponent can recover with a tech roll. If my opponent likes to do so i can catch him with a meaty BUT to do so i can't throw the meaty move because it will whiff. I need to do a crouched dash before and then do the move. This is how i get my meaty attack.

oh i see do offensive moves work as well also how does the way your opponent rolls affect meatys

It changes the timing. there are cases where the meaty can be done only if the opponent tech roll on the side or wake up in place. The only way to know if the hit you have in mind works in the scenario you think is to test it in the dojo in all cases: wake up in place, wake up in place perfect timing, tech roll, perfect tech roll.

how can i get good timing for meaty
i keep trying a meaty i saw in a video where aoi get plus 10 with her 3[K]
but i only get plus 8 or 0 also what about crouching is your opponent forced into standing or crouch or do they decide if so how does it affect meaty

Depends from the situation. For specific question about aoi you should ask in the Aoi sub forum.

I think it is easier to set CPU to counterhit. You do not need to start combo with any semicircular attack in this case and you will recognize meaty easily by the fact your "final" attack will not have yellow spark

Its all about being able to time the active frames of your meaty attack to that frame when the opponent is vulnerable while in wakeup. Often times you can use a slower move for this than you would otherwise in a fight, because opponent wastes time techrolling etc. Good example is use of Akiras 214P as a meaty.

Technically doesn't matter for a meaty, since meaties cannot be evaded.
