Hey all,

been reading these forums for a while, finally decided to go ahead and join up. I come with vids from a recent small gathering at DOAXShinobi's place(4/14/07) Certainly not the best VF5 play ever, as we're still learning, getting used to the game. (only one of us actually has a PS3) Also, I must apologize about the crappy youtube quality.

Try to slam out her evasive and sabaki moves more in disadvantage. (DS)(Hold)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, (DS)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, (DS)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and (DS)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Getting a few of these through can get opponents guessing for their reply.

Mixing in /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif in between the other punch strings is also a great tool against low punchers.

Also remember that (OS)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is guaranteed on sidehit. I saw you go for the throw a lot in those situations. You mixed it up with (OS)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif once though, which went through like a charm.

 

Thanks for your advice Vortigar. To be honest, I was thinking a lot of the things you mentioned when I watched the vids later in retrospect. I'll ususally try to use both stances roughly equally, but those vids were really OS heavy. Thus, I wasn't thinking as much about sabakis, reversals and such. None of us were really on point in any of these vids, lol. There probably were better matches that happened, and could've been recorded, but ah well. Next time.

Anyone else is also welcome to comment, offer advice, etc. I'm interested in hearing some opinions if you got 'em. Anything to improve my game.

 

Hey don't worry about it Izuna. Alot of people don't even have the guts to post up vids of themselves. You guys are showing great enthusiasm and I'm sure people appreciate it.


Keep playing and practicing and you guys will be looking sharp in time. Also keep reading up on the forums.

 

Absolutely. I've been biding my time trying to wait on the 360 version...hopefully it will have been worth it.

 

My only comment is that Pai player sucks, is all parlor tricks, and full of FAIL! lol



Seriously, though, my blocking, evading, TEing, and overall defense needs a lot of work. It's like, almost everytime I'd get "on the ropes" defensively, I get HANDLED. Jacky's 2-in-1s are not nice to me!


Any advice from fellow Pai players out there?

Hey Game Over, this is EXM.

Just wanted to say you seem to be getting the main idea of Pai play so just keep reading up and practicing and I'm certain you'll get much better.

All I have to say is becareful with the lows as though you seem to hit them often, if you get a low blocked in VF you can eat some very very nasty punishment. Try using more throw set ups to overcome your opponents block, Pai has a good throw game.

While I don't have anything Pai specific, I would suggest using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif more. It launches on counterhit for a nasty combo, mid, can evade alot of moves, and is pretty safe for a combo start.

Use Crouch dash and Back Crouch Dash buffering to get it out fast and try using it after a move that gives you slight advantage (most people tend to low punch or punch out of their disadvantage).
