Okay guys I've done my part; MLG is willing to give us a trial run. First, with an "exhibition tournament"...

I've just received confirmation that MLG will be hosting a fighting game exhibition tournament to scout what games will be added to the circuit next. Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is on that list.

The event will take place in Raleigh, NC. People who have a spectator pass or a competitor pass can enter this tournament. THERE IS A FEE TO GET IN THE DOOR BUT - THERE IS NO FEE TO ENTER THE TOURNAMENT.

OFficial information will be posted sometime within the week, but i am making this pre-emptive post (with permission) to let you guys know. I Want to see this game on the circuit, there are too many good gamers not getting enough shine, and this can turn out to be good for all of us if we step up and continue to support our game.

As of right now, I'm being told top 3 get prizes, 1st place gets $1500.

Don't be a punk ass, support the cause!

They, or I will make an official post once everything is written out.

*EDIT: MLG RALEIGH WILL TAKE PLACE August 24-26 in Raleigh, NC at the Raleigh Convention Center*

Wish I could make it, if not to participate, at least to attend. Curse living in the middle of nowhere in the most inconvenient of times!

Don't sweat it, as long as you show up to what you can, that's what counts. Our goal as a community should be to get into Evo 2013. That may not be a realistic goal, but it's what we should all try for. The way you do this is by showing up to events, be it MLG or Majors.

One bad point: ReSe in Charlotte is having their monthly that same weekend, so folks will likely show up there instead. There's not a whole lot of locals in NC who play VF though- there's a few, but I doubt you'll get more than 5 locals, it's going to have to be out-of-towners.

Well I know that I will be hitting up UFGT next year and hitting the chicago/ohio/toronto scene since michigan is a DeadZone. I still gotta train up though, not nearly ready!

    Fantastic to hear Shidosha,

Were I living in the US this would be something at the top of my list of things to go to~

2 Months should be enough time to save up and make it out [IMG]

Goodluck to everyone and keep pushing the game at every oppertunity!

I'm going. Went to a few 2 years ago when Tekken 6 was on the circuit. Hopefully it has a nice turnout so they can officially pick up the game. I know there were talks of canning KoFXIII because of it's small showing. But there were other majors around the same time as the MLG events, and players went to this. In either case, SCV and MK9 are doing well.

The hope is that by VF having small or nonexistent scenes in many areas, that the straggler players feel the need to come out, gather, and support. Plus MLG events have a shitload of setups and are good for casuals too.

    Peeps, let's make this happen.

I think KOF was canned, and this is replacing it.

Really, I think Persona would have been a better choice (Capcom games would be the best choice, but no support there- but I'm glad since Capcom games are unfun to me)- but I'm glad VF is getting a shot- I think as a community we need to make the most of this- we may NEVER get a shot like this again.

I actually was going to go to Summer Jam for VF until this announcement was made.

A split community would be bad: which tourney is more important to support: Summer Jam or MLG? I'm thinking MLG, but would love to see community feedback.

This has my support! VF deserves to be in a major spotlight such as MLG. Just a shame I'm from the other side of the pond. If this gets streamed then even better! means I'll be able to witness this taking place!

I may not be there in person, but I'll be supporting in spirit especially to the guys of VFDC who will be taking part! =)

You've got a point. If Summer Jam is a major, then we have 30-40 majors in a year, and 30-40 majors aren't very major.

What I'd like to see is for us as a community, to list which event we'd prefer to go to, and whether we could hit the other event- then decide as a community which one gets priority. We don't have enough people to have a 50/50 split- what would happen is folks would say VF folks don't travel or no one plays this game, and that's what I am afraid of.

Our goal as a community right now should be simple- grow the playerbase so we have an argument to be an Evo game for 2013. I wish I knew how to do this, I don't.
