Here is a pic of my moded EX2, it has a Sanwa JLF with a bat stick and Sanwa buttons. I put two buttons on the side so I had access to rotating the characters in the item shop. The stick is easy to mod if you have the tools and it was well worth the effort. The stick is already small and light so thats a plus and I get to keep my button and headset functions.

    Great job.

I'm looking into modding my EX2; the buttons are starting to irritate me.

What did you use to make the additional side buttons? Dremel attachment?

Those buttons are garbage, my guard button was broke for two weeks.

Yeah, a dremel. I used an old button with core ripped out for the template and a level to get the second hole straight. You are going to have to grind the screw on the bottom of the JLF stick/shaft down so that there is no slot for a screw driver anymore. You have to do this because the shaft will scrape the bottom of the case if you don't. I think some people might have switch shafts. They took the old hori shaft and put it inside the JLF to make the fit right. The common ground traces on the JLF PCB will need to be cut in order for the stick to work because there is no common ground on the hori PCB.

You will need to bend the prongs on the sanwa buttons located on the top of the case, bend one to the left and one to the right on each button because the Hori PCB won't fit back inside the case.

Would you post where I can get the parts to replace the buttons and the stick? Also if you could post details it would be appreciated. I am not new to modding but i like to know what I am going to do before I do it.

There's a wealth of details on Shoryuken forums regarding modding, including where to buy parts from.

lizardlick.com Great place to get parts, and great management too.
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=140160HORI Button Swapping. This method is NOT consider the best(Read the whole thread)but it works. Someone gives tips(On the same thread) On how to install it, without removing the white connecters of your purchase buttons(Bending the copper ends)

Wow thanks man. I will order my Sanwa parts from there. I will check out the thread you posted as well.

Yeah, bending the pins is a better option if you don't want to wire simply because swapping the switch from the Hori to the Sanwa buttons makes the Sanwa buttons essentially useless. Just bend the pins and either clip them a bit or widen the holes in the PCB a bit and it should work fine.

The stick itself, on the other hand...

Yeah so what is the problem with the stick? Is the housing base too large or what?

Yeah the stick shaft is too long and scrapes the bottom of the shallow Hori case.

I have this problem to look forward to soon!

Maybe I should just buy a joystick case somewhere and put the insides of the EX into it with the buttons and stick I want.

What if you replace the screw on the bottom of the shaft with a different flat screw? Would that work?

This is probably the hardest thing to do in this modd (excepted that you have to gently bend the sanwa' buttons' prongs), you have 2 solutions:
-keep the original shaft and grind it down (as the bottom cover if you can)
    - or put back the hori one, but in this case you'll have to cut the sanwa acuator exactly at the good length and perfectly flat, be careful, cut it little by little if you're not sure.

the main difference will be that the sanwa shaft is much longer than the hori one, resulting very different feelings

Does anybody know of any pictures that shows either of these two solutions? I really want a bat stick but if it is going ot be that much trouble then maybe I will stick witht he stock stick and just change the ball. Though what ball would I need? By that I mean what manufacturer?
