Monster Hunter 3

So does anyone else find that the gunner is not an effective solo class?

It makes me wonder if it's design is simply support and healer...is this the case?

I took my gunner out last night with barroth armor (attack up), felyne temper (attack up, deviation up), aquatic needle stock, flamingo frame (don't remember the real name of the damn Quru bird), and Barroth Barrel.

I took full ammo in. Lvl3 normalx99. clust lvl 1 max, cragshot, 20 dragon shot, max wyvern shot, etc. All the good stuff. As well as the status effects available like exhuast shot. I also took in the combine items to make 10 extra crag and 10 extra clust lvl 1 on both. So full ammo, along with mats for more strong ammo.

Fighting the Gigginox, i rained down firepower on him for the entire match. this is all offline, so the giggi was working with standard offline stats. And i'm just wiping the ground with him the whole time, and next thing i know there is 5 minutes left. In fairness, he was limping around and i could have killed him, altho i didn't.

But sheesh.
Holy hell batman.

I can kill his ass in 1/3rd of the time with my lance. And i don't have to combine a bunch of ammo in the middle of the match. Don't have to expand a limited resource (my huskberry, bomberry, and scatterfish or whatever the mats were).

So this makes me wonder. Is the gunner intended to just be a support class, and not to be used to take wyverns down directly?
And if it is designed as support class, how many people do you generally find you need to have before a gunner is an improvement over an extra sword/hammer/lance? I know in 2 player online, my bro and i are definitely better off with 2 main weapons.


I really enjoyed using my gunner vs ludroth and jaggi, even though it was more work than a lance/switchaxe/greatsword/etc. But after upgrading gunner spec's, i have to say the gunner equipment and ammo does not scale with the wyvern's HP.

 

Generally gunner was a support class, yes. I usually don't have too much trouble if I bring full shots of the element the monster's weak to.

Also, trapping and bombing's nice too. When you get down to it though, a Gunner needs meatshields to work his magic.

 

I prefer to be called aggro as long as you keep the revival shot around/

VF hunting parties, guys! I'm all for it whenever people are on. I like playing with guys I know rather than rolling dice on random people.

man i love this game. rodney and i played all day today and i am seriously hooked. me and rodney couldn't stop laughing at getting pwned by both qurupeco and royal ludroth at the same time! just the sheer enjoyment of playing with friends and the satisfaction of taking down these giants is downright a riot. u guys who aren't playing are def missing out! GOOD GAMES RODNEY!!!

i just now got my new hammer that engulfs monsters into flames. this game's attention to detail is pretty amazing. bravo capcom!

This game is the shit. Me and my bro took down rathalos + rathian in a two player quest today...... STRAIGHT RAN OVER THEM. It was awesome.

HR11 in 2 days thanks to Flash, some random people and my best homie from Omaha Nebraska who I finally caught up with last night. God damn that bastard was super strong!

For having played monster hunter for quite some time, I'm really disappointed in myself for completely forgetting just how important it is to fucking eat a meal before you head out on a quest lol.

I'll be on later if anyone wants to play as soon as I complete this stupid thing called a job... fucking A I want to go home and kill some shit! I hope my body doesn't crash when I get home cause I got a long day ahead of me and I only got like 2 hours sleep. Fucking flash and my friend with there "Rod... 1 more!" BASTARDS!

Oh and the Queropeco is the best! He weak as hell, but he is the best Monster period! He has a 2 step dance (hops from side to side) that's better than Flash bboying on his best day and when that fails... the bitch ass screams for help ahahahahahahaha! I'm telling you he is weak, but when he starts singing that "Help I'm getting my ass whooped!" song lol man all hell breaks out and that shit is fun.

BAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH! yo qurupeco's dance is the SHIT!!! i literally LOL everytime i see. it's mad funny cuz you can be beating the shit out of quru, then all of a sudden u get tossed half way across the screen by the bigger monster he summons. then were off running for our lives (running animation is LOLZ)!!!! fucckk!!! 3-4 hrs of sleep! i'm not used to this yet. im sleepy as fuck at work. rod, i sure hope our body clocks don't get screwed up!!!

These god damn monsters are no joke! The things they do are just fucking amazing or downright LOLZ... Really they react so life like as though Capcom studied and motion capture the real deal.

i bought a wii, wireless router, controller, and the game of course, just to play monster hunter 3. i spent roughly 300 bucks to get set up and have put roughly 100 hours in already.

down to 3 dollars per hour of gametime and dropping. worth every penny.
