my modded doa stick

since there is no word of a decent stick for the upcoming 360 version of vf5 i took matters into my own hands and modded up a pair of doa sticks i had sitting around.

i used sanwa jlf-tp-8y joysticks and sanwa obsf-30 buttons. since the mounting depth of the case is so low, i decided to swap in the original hori shaft so that i wouldn't have to worry about the mounting depth of the original sanwa shaft.

still thinking about whether or not i want to stick some art on this thing but as of now i'm ready for the 360 release of vf5 as well as being able to enjoy other games the way they were meant to be played like virtua tennis and the upcoming senko no ronde.

Could you post a guide on how to do this? Or do you have a link? I have a Hori as well and I'm interested in modding it in time for the 360 release -- but I have no experience whatsoever. :>

there are a couple of different ways to mod the stick. there is a tutorial with pics here http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=131221

i mounted my stick a different way though by cutting down excess plastic inside the stick so that the jlf sits flat to the inside and so the jlf square gate is left unmodded. after cutting down the 4 plastic poles that held the screws of the hori stick and part of the walls that lined up the hori stick, i lined up the jlf base to those holes and screwed in the old screws so that it would be lined up correctly. i then drilled 4 new holes based on the corner holes of the jlf through the plastic base and metal top. then i flipped over the stick case and did some countersinking with a countersink drill bit on those holes to make my screws sit flat with the metal top. after the countersinking is finished i mounted 4 nuts and bolts to the finished holes and removed the old screws that were used to line up the stick.

i think this method is a little better to the tutorial posted above since that method relies on the screws being held down by plastic which threads are already made weak once you remove the screws from them the first time. it also relies on using a riser to the shaft which may be uncomfortable to some.

i don't know if that makes any sense to you but once you have the stick all taken apart, you should be able to understand better what i'm talking about.

lemme know if you have any more questions on it. its not a hard mod to do at all. it's just a little time consuming and expensive if you don't have all the tools needed.
