My Virtua Fighter 5 360 stick

Hey guys, I'm new here and a friend recommended me to post up pics of my Virtua Fighter 5 stick I recently made for my 360.

I picked up a wired 360 pad off ebay for next to nothing (dog chewed the cable), built the box out of 9mm ply wood, routed out the space for the perspex, painted the whole thing with enamel paint, installed the joystick and buttons, wired it all up and here's the finished product.

btw, the green button at the top is the guide button. It lights up when plugged into the 360. I will be making a traditional Xbox X that can fit into the button, but I haven't gotten around to doing that yet though.

    Parts list:

<ul>[*]9mm plywood[*]Joystick and buttons. I got mine from Ozstick (very good to deal with)[*]USB extension cable[*]Piece of 3mm perspex for artwork window[*]Other miscellaneous stuff - sandpaper, screws, hinges, etc + plus the right tools.[*]Enamel spray paint (better wearing)[/list]

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Very NAICE! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbs_up.gif The finish looks very professional.

Personally, I'm not a fan of concave buttons, but each to their own! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Hi, Dreamcazman. Remember me? I got you to make me that sweet custom Sanwa stick for the original Xbox a few years back. I love the stick but it sucks that I can't use it on my 360. :p

My brother is looking to get his Sega VSHG modded like in the guide pinned in this forum, so it works on 360 and PS3 at the flip of a switch. No need for mic port, since he can buy a wireless headset.

Could you let me know how much you would charge if he supplied you with a 360 controller that has a common ground?

My XBL gamertag is Huzza. Feel free to add me if you want. Me and Matt had some awesome games online a few days a go. The netcode is wonderful when playing against people in Australia. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Myke, if you have a 360 get VF5. It would be an honour to play against your awesome Kage. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Of course I remember you Huzza, how's it been? If you want, feel free to post pics of the Terry joystick /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I'm not sure about the joystick, Matt may get me to do his joystick someday as his is just collecting dust since the 360 version of VF5 came out. It shouldn't be that difficult to do, just a bit of rewiring by the looks of it. Good point about the mic port, I use a wireless headset too, makes everything alot easier. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'll add you to my list next time I'm on live, good to hear from you again /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

    Sure!

The thing I was worried most about was the artwork but it came out really well. What I did was email Dreamcazman the Photoshop file and he simply printed it out. He done an awesome job with the wood work. The whole thing went really smoothly. I simply asked for the style of stick I wanted and then shipped him the parts and he got to work right away.

The parts I imported, but now you can find Sanwa parts pretty easily in Australia. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Surprisingly, it works perfectly on the PS3. What I did was piggyback a Xbox to PS2 converter with a PS2 to PS3 one. And, to my amazement not only did it work but I could pull of Wolf's fastest input moves without any problems. I tested both in T5DR and VF5 for input lag but there was none.

Anyway, here are the pictures as requested. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Huzza, nice to hear about some others in Australia interested in VF5. Which state are you from? If I could get my hands on a joystick, then I might consider picking up a 360.

I wonder if Dreamcazman is up for an order? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

You changed the ball on the stick I see... (used to be pink before) - makes it look a bit better /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Thanks for the praises too Huzza, I don't have as much spare time as I used to, got married since and there's always odd jobs around the house to do. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

I'm in QLD. Been reading this site for years now. Love VF.

For the 360 what I did was buy one of the DOA4 X360 Sticks. I ended up modding the thing myself with Sanwa parts. It works really well. You should be able to still find them at JB Hifi. Or, if you want to go a fully custom stick you should try contacting the site below (The owner is in QLD as well), that is if Dreamcazman is too busy to make any at the moment.

If you're up to modding the DOA stick yourself then these two guides will come in handy.

If you can't find any sticks in store then can import from Play-asia.com

Yeah, it's a bit bigger the the stock ball. But, it does look pretty nice. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

No Problems, mate. You really did do an outstanding job. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Huzza, cheers for that. Problem is I can't find a single DOA4 stick anywhere in this state (NSW) I've tried all JBs, GAMEs, EBs, you name it! Are there any still up in QLD?

I've never seen one locally, but as Huzza already mentioned, Play-asia have them in stock.

I have not seen any lately to be honest. But, they use to charge full RRP on the things. Check your PM I was given $8 off code from Play-Asia that expires end of 2007, but I don't need to use it so it might come in handy for you. With Fedex shipping and the code the total comes to under $115 AUD.

You want the Hori EX2 arcade stick that is exactly like the DOA one just with a normal overlay. Or, you could try calling stores again and asking for EX2 stick since, they might have gotten shipments of them.

    Code PMed.

Cool beans, I was looking for stick builders and saw that stick. It's by a UK builder right?

    Yes. : )

The x360 one is made by paddyhacker (UK/London)

The ps2 ones are made by kowal (Poland)
I just wired them to pcb.

I also have two DC sticks wired to DualShock1.
