Hello everyone. This is one of my first step into helping out the US VF4 scene. I am going to start regular putting up new clips of matches between me and the vf crew here. Hopefully this will help spur interests to fellow NA players and also encourage other NA players to share their own matches. So here are some of the exciting clips from our very first serious gathering.

    Srider (Sarah) vs KrazyJL (Jacky)
    http://web.utk.edu/~jeppers1/sridvskraz.wmv
    Flood (Vanessa) vs KrazyJL (Akira)
    http://web.utk.edu/~jeppers1/floovskraz.wmv
    sp0rk (Jeffery) vs KrazyJL (Akira)
    http://web.utk.edu/~jeppers1/sp0rvskraz.wmv
Aaron Carter (Lion) vs Flood (Vanessa)
    http://web.utk.edu/~jeppers1/aarovsfloo.wmv
    KrazyJL (Akira) vs Srider (Wolf)
    http://web.utk.edu/~jeppers1/krazvssrid.wmv
    Flood (Vanessa) vs Srider (Wolf)
    http://web.utk.edu/~jeppers1/floovssrid.wmv

I should note that most of the players here are not yet very experienced at VF4. Players like Aaron Carter only have had a few days of actual vs human experience. KrazyJL is also playing on a pad and not very much Akira knowledge at all, some of the stuff he improvised are interesting. We are all kind of rusty from a recent period of break from VF4. We definitely see some obvious holes in our play and will work at it. Things like combo opportunity, mis inputs, etc. But all in all these are some fun clips. Look for these movies to be updated regularly! /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

I made the post before all the clips were done uploading, so at that time they weren't all uploaded yet. They should all work now. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

Hey everyone! ya thats me on the pad~Akira... thats the way I've learned to play him but I'm learning on the stick as we speak! I hadn't played VF for awhile and I'm trying really hard to get back into competitive play... hopefully I'll perfect playing on a stick and pull out all the combos that are near impossible on a pad...
also my Jacky is my just~for~fun character... hope you enjoy the movies of us tho! it was fun making them!!!

Wolf Analysis : Akira vs. Wolf

Wolf style time line appreciation of the 2 matches -> Aki vs. Wolf, Van vs. Wolf. Things I've noticed that could contribute to Wolf game and acknowledgement of effective techniques in that specific style of play.

As to the parts I dont comment about they are absolute choices of style of play and are valid tactics regardless of winning or losing that round/match or being effective at that specific time.

    Akira vs. Wolf :

0:22 -> After SR hit Wolf is in perfect position for a TR low throw.

0:32 -> Running SR -> Low throw TR. One forward dash into low throw or F+P,K,G for perfect range.

0:53 -> Blocked LBF, then dodged Dblplm into Screw shot. Rule : Do only 1 screw shot ( HCB+P ) after a dodge, rarely 2 ( exception being airborn opp. i.e a dodged Knee ) because you hit him in his recovery phase the second canned hit can be avoided by Akira.

0:59 -> Avoid as much as possible doing a b,f+K+G after a d/f+P+G, its really not that difficult to roll out of the way and do a low rising kick to hit Wolf on the floor.
Other options include a quick b,f+P for ura or play with a d/f+K+G then back hop over rising opp. Or else just back off or pressure riser.

1:02 -> Nice backdash after low rising sweep. Your spaceial range is perfect for low throwing the whiffed LBF. Trick involves BCDing to get just the right range for a low attack to whiff and inputting a third D/B with P+K+G. Risky move and takes lots of practice with ranges, but worth it. "Offensive" low throwing with Wolf is IMO the highest level of skill for this character.

1:07/1:32 -> Nice setups with low punch, back dash into b+P & f+P, back dash into b+P. You obviously are aware of your options between throwing and striking.

Of note : If you do a floater ( knee, SS ) when rising rely more on d+P follow-up combos as you usually get a low float due to hitting opp. in rec. phase.

Fun match overall. You are sufficiently proficient to observe what other points you can focus on to make your game grow.
Will post next match later, much more stuff.

Wolf Analysis : Vanessa vs. Wolf

    Akira vs. Wolf additions :

adding to 1:02 : when LBF whiffs you can attempt a b+K+G, P+G just before the move misses. Timing is critical as it becomes a risky move to pull as most ppl will usually dodge or E-TEG after a whiffed move.

adding to 0:59 -> way to pressure opp. after a d/f+P+G is to backdash once and execute a b,d/f+P without charging. The opp. will not stay long on the floor so the backdash will time your arrow knuckle real to tag the opp. ( it tracks TR'ing opps ) just as he's kick rising ( even low ) or will interrupt wake up moves. Once again this tactic requires strict timing but can definetly be honed.

    Vanessa vs. Wolf :

0:45 -> Van on back face up, head towards -> BCD and block low -> she cant break that defense. Any wake up moves can be blocked on reflex due to a lack of kick rising animations ( i.e. Aki's wake up double palm. If you dont see the beginnings of a kick animation block high, your too far at that range to be thrown anyway. ).

1:06 -> Van seems like a quick struggler so a usuall d/f,d/f+P+G might of whiffed or get nailed with the d+P after you struggled her with the d,f+K -> perfect range for CD low throw, the d+P will whiff. If she was a slow struggler you could switch back to high throws. If you feel like chaining 2 low drop kicks ( which is useless because they dont take off any energy, only struggle ) put a fake shoulder ram in between [ f,d+K, b,f+hold P, (opp. struggles out and his low P whiffs) d, f,d+K into a CD high throw ], you'll mess his flow like that.

1:27 -> Nice decision to not counter attack after blocked elbow and going for BD throw.

1:32 -> Again running SR -> TR low throw. Land these succesfully enough and it will add to your oki pressure. It makes opp. think that you'll low throw him on alot of non-throwable TRs, you can punish that with mid level attacks.

1:42 -> Once again your round finisher -> high attack, d+P, backdash, etc. Very efficient.

2:02 -> After dodge throw : Great opportunity for a d/f+K+G while Van is rising to setup a yomi game -> P,K,G to turn around rapidly while opp. is struggling then I recommend you to do a low throw. Your opp. will get nailed if he struggled out and expected a BT low drop kick. If you are succesful with this tactic your opp. will block high next time he gets struggled by d/f+K+G : do a high throw instead. If your quick/close enough your turn around punch will hit the opp. during the struggle and guarantee a throw. Other options include P, K, G, d+P+K, high throw | P, K, G, knee/SS, d+P combo follow-up or standing 3-hitter | etc. You can figure out the rest.

2:16 -> Personal opinion : would've done a b,b+P+G from the flow of the game as a round opener.

2:33 -> Your b,f+K+G succesfully landed. Your opp. is face down, head towards. Instead of going for rev or blocking high/low go for a clothesline it has a side/back hit detect that will beat out the rising opp.'s kick. If it whiffs, quickly input a P, K, G, then dodge & throw ( my style..) or have your fun with BT games.

2:37 -> after TR'ing Van's P+G throw avoid going for a floater -> outta range and most of her attacks will beat yours out.

2:42 -> Your famous d+P, BD, b+P round ender didnt show up.

Nice match once again. Keep it coming.

    p.s. Try F+P, P, f+P, dodge, high throw/b+K+G, P+G as a round opener.

Thanks for all the observations and advice Mr. Wh|te. I will remember to incorporate what you have said in my wolf play. Hopefully your comments will help benefit other wolf players as well. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif
