A common misconception, especially if one is unfamiliar with Tekken series. [IMG]

gah, you know what i mean.

tekken 3 was mostly played on a casual level by the millions of people who bought it for the ps1. didn't mean to imply that that was the only level it was played on.

No, actually, Tekken is easy to pick up and play, which is why it's popular. Pick up and play DOESN'T mean the game is in any way easier to win at when played at higher levels. It simply means the barrier to entry is not as bad as VF, which it is.

If really Virtua Fighter Vs Tekken is made in arcade, I don't think it will be working effectively because the gameplay between Virtua fighter and Tekken are unique like combo combination, juggles system, the bouncing and the life are totally different. On the other hand there are only 4 buttons for TK while there are 6 in VF. The only thing the VF game is lacking of characters compared to Tekken. I hope SEGA should includes more and more characters to the game e.g Sambo based military art and Win Chun Quan. Any suggestions?

3 buttons, but 7 different input combinations

Where did you get six buttons from?

vf has less characters, but is not lacking in characters. Big difference. Personally, of the 17 characters vf has-- goh, akira, lei fei (obviously), shun, vanessa, kage, brad, jacky, wolf, and lau all appeal to me. So far in a year of play i've only gotten "good" with one. So in my opinion it does no lack for characters.

There are no clones in T6 BR. [IMG] Each of the 40 characters have their own styles.

Eddy/Christie are still clones... and I believe they still use separate character select boxes.

Otherwise, I agree. What used to be an issue of "near-cloning" with the Mishimas has now turned into very different playing styles, sharing a few of the same attacks.

Although Baek now plays a lot more like Hwoarang than he has in the past. They're still very, very different though.

Ah, quite right. Although IIRC, their hitboxes and throws are different, making it Eddy > Christie instead of Eddy == Christie.

Two characters that are practically identical to each other are classified as different characters cause their hitboxes are placed differently....

Sounds like someone loves Tekken a little too hard.

I much prefer Tekken to VF. Tekken 6 BR is my current favorite fighting game and one of the most balanced competitive fighting games available right now. Not to mention the competitive community is significantly larger than the VF in the US and across the world.

VF is a great game, but from a purely competitive standpoint, Tekken 6 BR all the way.

Also, on the Tekken vs VF debate, they'd have to make two games like they did with Capcom vs. SNK and SVC Chaos. I don't see if being possible to make a system that pleases both communities, and if you use one system over the other you'll turn off a lot of people.

Personally I think the reason why Tekken appeals to casuals is BECAUSE OF ITS REWARD SYSTEM!
Play VF5 and play through quest mode for WAY TO LONG to get items that are useless unless you play the game A LOT
    ORRR
Play Tekken, get cool character storys, bonus characters, do flashy combos (Although vf has some sweeeet moves) fight crazy hard demon bosses at the end and save the world omfg!
The combat system can be EXACTLY the same, its the reward system that needs to change. VF has virtually NO STORYLINE in game, the only story you get is in the fucking manual... and if you want to look up there past stories you have to look at the manuals of vf4,3,2,1 etc... and when you beat the game do you get a cool ending? NOPE you get the credits and the story isn't revealed until the next games manual...

casuals just wanna feel like there saving the world.. and vf doesn't do that for them..
they need a short-term reward system not a long term- play for a year before you can beat anyone good AND THATS IT system. Also, VF is advertised horribly.. there are no gimmicks like super dragon punch super combo bullshit, we need some of that in the trailors and tv commercials damn it!

Why are you laughing? Imagine Akira with Jacky's hitboxes, or the the way around. Casuals won't notice, but the pros would.

    Think Dural.

    Eddy > Christie.
