    Hi all,

    Does anyone have information/experience with the <a target="_blank" href=http://www.easybuy2000.com/store/playstation%20II/neokey.shtml>Neokey SBox Modchip</a>?

There's a tiny bit of soldering required, and it requires a Gameshark to boot "backups" (i.e., CD-Rs).

But I'm guessing you don't need the Gameshark to boot an original Jap VF4 on a US PS2 with the Neokey? Does anyone know for sure? I don't care about pirate games, I just want to play VF4! I don't own a Gameshark and don't want to buy one.

Anyway the unit costs ~$20 (plus shipping), and like I said requires only minimal soldering. So if it works it seems like it might be a good solution.

    grib.

Actually, this thing doesn't boot originals, only backups. D'oh.

You can't use the modchip to boot original imports. I believe you can use the knife swap chip (no modchip needed) to play original JP VF4 on US PS2, but you need GS2.
