Where you can see a movie featuring two horrid new costumes. The first is Village People Cowboy Lion, who has a rainbow hat. The second is Hello Kitty Samurai Princess Aoi, whose costume is decent but pinkish-purple.
Links numbered 1-7 are pics.
Also featured:

Crusader Lau: who is impervious to most high and low attacks because of the giant bowl on his head and enormous shinguards.

Lounge Warrior Lion: With Realistic Action Lapels.

Al Quaeda Queen Aoi: Is that a turban? Or her hair? It's nice except for the white bit.

And of course Eastside Jacky (green VF3 outfit) and Westside Jacky (silver and black warmups and bandanna).

Take a look.

How do you activate these units with the us version of the game?
Don't tell me sega were so lame that they left out these costumes from the us version..?

I've been trying to download that last clip for most of the weekend, but it seems like the server is down every time I try. Oh well.

These add-ons are shown in the VF4 Perfect Guide (some of them, anyway). Lau's shin guards and "giant bowl" are shown, but the costumes shown for Aoi, Jacky, and Lion are very different from the one's in the book.

I'm not sure how VF.net works... are new costumes created by sega and then downloaded to individual machines? That would mean that over time the arcade version of VF4 could keep seeing changes with respect to costumes and clothing items. Maybe we'll see new items in Japan a year from now. The US version, which isn't connected to the net, won't get these updates. It might have the first two or three sets of items released, but past a certain point it won't have any of the new stuff.

Ghostdog, the stuff is being mirrored on my server right now. You should be able to do
ftp://vf.dyndns.org
and see it in the "Random recent VF movies" folder. I'll have the pics there as well.

I can't play it! =( *sniff*

What programme must you use to play .mov files? I d/l the sehgaru vs tibita movie but Windows Media Player told me it was "unable to download an appropriate decompressor". What should I do?

I'm guessing anyway that .mov needs Apple QT? Does it? Also what's with the "decompressing" business?

Anyway, how do you get the costumes you mentioned in the arcade? /versus/images/icons/shocked.gif

oops... ignore the previous few posts... I just downloaded Apple QT and watched the movie. Lion has blue hair in it and Wolf looks like he's wearing diapers... /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif lol

Off to view the other costumes now! /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Oh, and I still need an answer to how and whether we can get those costumes to show up in the arcade machines. /versus/images/icons/shocked.gif

Hey pinkgirl, easy on the spam =P
Some movie info -

You need quicktime to view MOV files. Windows media player supports MOV's in theory, but often chokes. So go to http://quicktime.apple.com and get quicktime. Be careful, quicktime's default volume is set at "Earmelter".
==========================================================
As for decompressors... basically every move out there is compressed and decompressed by something called a codec. It's a little program that decodes the movie when you want to play it. Codecs are the reason why we can keep movies at a reasonable size.

To play pretty much every movie on earth, you should visit these sites:

www.windowsmedia.com (for movies with .mpg, .avi, .wmv, .asf extensions)
quicktime.apple.com (for movies with .mov extensions)
www.divx.com (for -certain- .avi extensions)

The last one is for the DivX codec, something which is fairly new and changes all the time. It's pretty good quality, but the downsides are that Windows media player sometimes chokes on it (also, Macintosh people can't get the latest version of it yet). When any .AVI movie fails to play, go to www.divx.com, click product, then click the top item (DivX Codec). That should allow you to view it in WMP. If that still fails, try getting "The Playa" ... it's a player for JUST DiVX movies and you can get it on the same site. There are times when it will play movies that WMP chokes on.

Good luck.

CreeD and FeixaQ, thanks....

I finally dl'ed the clips. At first I tried right-clicking the links and got the message about the server being down. I left-clicked the links, and was able download the clips.

Rustedtech to the rescue, hehe

I have mirrored all the VF4 movies I have, and I will mirror any file VFDC requests of me. I have ridiculous storage space and no bandwidth limits.

Enjoy!!!
