New Hampshire Holodek tourney 5/26/07

Hello all,
I would like to post about the Holodek tourney that happened last Saturday. Many might consider this as a minor tourney and in a way that's true. It had neither publicity nor number of participants like other major tourneys. But I would like to shout kudos for this event because it was so different from what we are used to and I was extremely impressed by the setup and the support provided by Holodek. While the number of participants was somewhat disappointing (total of 6!) the prize money and the setup offered was nothing short of major. And I must add we had pretty good fun as well.

Major thanks to Holodek for hosting the tourney and giving out the prizes despite a small number of participants. I did not get the name of the lady running the tourney but she was super nice to us. These people were serious about supporting gaming communities with their facility. I say a place like Holodek deserves publicity and support from us gamers as this could be a future of the gaming and the next best thing after the demise of arcades.

It was a really cool place and recommend people to go there if they support another VF5 tournament.

 

Wait, wait, wait. Hold the fucking phone: Yupa was there??

yes I strongly reccommend Holodek. That place was totally awesome and I hope to make it back there for future events. The way everything was setup and running on projectors with an average screen size of say 40-50 inches was down right incredible. We need more places like that one.

"When the challenge was issued to the fighters of Virtua Fighter 5, it was answered by players from all over the east coast. They arrived, arcade sticks in hand, to become the champion of HoloDek's first ever fighting tournament.

The tournament began with the players adjusting their arcade sticks as the brackets were set for the tournament. Once sticks and brackets were ready to rock, so were the players. The combat began as an excited tension filled the room.

The first few rounds were over quickly with a few players already shining as potential champs. There were even a few matches that were down to the wire and the last second as the players were well matched and well practiced. However, only a few would move on, so the winners continued as the losers bracket was seeded for a second chance at the title.

Finally, after combat had raged across far flung and exotic battlegrounds, the victorious emerged. Konjou came out on top to claim the first place prize of $300, followed closely in second place by Denkai. Not one to be left out, Hyunster fought his way into third place with his excellent fighting skills and a winning smile.

So the first fighting tournament at HoloDek came to a triumphant end, opening the door for further fighting tournaments as well as a repeat of VF5. For more information, keep an eye on the HoloDek website. You may become the next first place winner!"

 

Yay! I'm glad you all had a good time on Saturday. As I said, it was my first time running a fighting type tournament, so I'm glad I didn't mess it up too badly. lol I hope to see you all at other tournaments and will look into running another VF5 tournament, as well. Thanks to you all! You were great!!

yes we really need to support these guys more if and when they hold future events. I know I am down to go back. That place is just totally off the COOL CHART!
