1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Been spending some time away from Evo these days... namely b/c I quit smoking, and when I play VF, I smoke like a chimney. It's more automatic than the mandatory cigarette after sex. So... it's an appetite I don't feed.

In the meantime, I've checked out some other games.
Psyvariar 2: Wicked little shooter. I never played the first. If you're up for a video that I made, check out my site:

Dolphin Blue: I'll try to get a video of this up. Very nice Metal Slug-esque side-scroller made by Sammy. Clean graphics, and very fun. Not a coin-muncher like the Metal Slug series either.

Zeta Gundam: Basically the same engine as Gundam DX Federation vs. Jion, but with different Mechs. Has all the GUndam guys there. Good fun... although I suck at it.

A few other games that are kinda old now but I either hadn't seen or played:

Shikigami no Shiro II (now on GC)
Demon Front (not on anything - similar to Metal Slug...pretty cool).

Anyone coming to Japan should check these out.

Haven't even seen it... the newest thing I saw was last night. Demolish Fist by Sammy. The first beat 'em up I've seen in Japan. Didn't get to play it though.

I saw that one on test in Tokyo in May. Dear god, but it's awful. Jerky animation, awful framerate, horribly generic characters... stick to SpikeOut.

    Is that the Sammy beat-em-up?

I heard they're also working on a 3d fighter. I heard the gameplay will be fast (20sec rounds) but will play over like 5 rounds. Sounds really interesting and the screens I've seen don't look too bad either. So is that out yet?

agreed, i'm dissapointed with sammy after waku waku 7 & astra superstars... (meh, IMO) i think the worst thing about it honestly is the shoddy character design, it's as if they took other characters from other beat em ups and went through quest mode changing them slightly /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

Played it on various occasions: -

The gameplay is boring and slow, no progression whatsoever in scrolling beat em ups, seems somewhat similar to the streets of rage system (or bare knuckle). pick up / attack, jump, guard, dash etc.. button combinations perform special attacks etc. what arcade board was than anywayz? looks worse than system 11...

EDIT: dolphin blue looks promising tho, had a chance to play it, but i just felt like watching instead..

I've never been a beat-em-up fan other than Double Dragon when I was a youngster, so I'm not the best to ask.

My favorite genre is platformer -- so Dolphin Blue is right up my alley.

My favorite beat'em up is Double Dragon 2 on the NES. I wish they'd re-release that for the Gamecube or something.

I play Demolision Fist when I went on TV, hehe. The games dry man, if it came out like 7 years back I woulda thought it was wicked, lol. I'd rather play Hulk than this. Big, Strong green guy or lil wee men and women causing havoc? HULK WINS!.....HULK SMASH!!!

i did'nt play part 2, but i did recently see the master system part 1 (NES conversion) and it is the worst conversion i have ever witnessed /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

horrible game boy brick colours, leik 2 channel sound, and utterly jerky frame rate! i was so shocked something like mario 3 could be made on this hardware.. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
