9th dan Jacky (Neo Tower) vs 10th dan Wolf (Sega-Lu).

This movie is an absolute MUST DOWNLOAD. Awesome skills by both players, very nearly evenly matched, and a truly impressive fight to the finish.

I didn't find the Wolf particularly good. The only thing interesting was his use for QCF+P in floats. I am trying to find good followups to the Wolf's pickup move, but the movie was pretty dissappointing in that aspect. In fact I think they made quite a few mistakes. The wolf did not punish a whiffed throw. minor stuff like that.

woaw... this is very similar on how the competition is at svgl with the mix of low punches and throws.

this is clip is also a very good example of the defensive/waiting/guessing game *notice the waiting and constant ducking and rising*

In my opinion, I don't like the strategy Japanese players used in this movie - "wait-wait-and wait". It looks very boring for me.

Actually, I like the movies clips of Korea players better. They always keep moving foward and back, and you can see many creative technics from them.

I dunno, I actually like this clip a lot, for some reason. The blocking by both players is pretty impressive (even though visually, you see a lot less action)...

Their "blocking and low punches" strategy remind me the experience fighting versus someone in SVGL ... No offense, just try to figure out some creative strategy to beat this kind of players.

LOL yup i think i know who you're talking about. i won't name any names but it IS that one guy who you don't like playing against isn't it?

I don't want to use the same "waiting" strategy back just because I wanna win. If everyone plays the same game, there will be no fun in VF anymore.

I am banned from playing VF until Sat. sigh...

my Wolf... hmmm other than learning to crouch throw tech roll, it is still the same. I think I only use TWO MOVES. Knee and throw :) surprisingly effective sometimes. Oh I forgot I also use d+P and P :)

When one needs to play the waiting game i assume it must be a decent distance apart. IT is useful tactically against a VERY offense-oriented player, it can definitely break his momentum because with a distance apart, he wont headlessly charge his way at you. It gives both players time to plan the next attack. For my experience i will say it's useful.

No one is suggesting that it is not useful

It's simply an undeniable fact if two players decides to play the waiting game..it becomes 'boring' to the spectators.

Then again, both players might find the 'slow' game as exciting as horse racing~

Yah I agree. I don't like to play "overly-defensive" players as well, its usually boring stuff. But IMHO, being more defensive and careful than them will usually win you the match. At least, it works for me.

It reminds some matches I saw in Taiwan. Both players are "excellent" defensers. In their matches, after hitting his opponent only 1 punch or throw once, they started to run away and defense. If you make any mistake in offensing, they just gave you another pp or throw and ran away and started to defense again.

If your opponent use the strategy on you, what will you feel? I don't mean that you cannot defense, but my point is "Don't abuse it".

It is much more challenging, mentally, to try to predict the opponent's move from very close range than it is to do lots of random back dashes in the hopes that they will miss something.
The guarding looks like machi, but constant f,f, b,b, f,f, b,b movement is the hallmark of machi play. I find the Japanese tapes pretty consistently more interesting.

I know... its sick. There's a guy in Singapore whom I used
to play against(just played VF4 w/ him a few days back).
Some claim that he is a "very good defensive player", but I
    absolutely loathed his style.
I derive joy in "crushing" my opponents(I think everybody
does), pressurizing them even when I'm winning by a great
margin(hp wise), but its not always wise to do that. Quite
often, a mistake will cause you to RO or something eg.vs
    Wolf/Kage.
I think there are times when defense is a better option, it
really depends on the situation/opponent. I'd rather let
those machi ppl have a taste of their own medicine and have
the last laugh than let them piss all over me anyway.
