If you didnt know, Robotech is a botched up version of macross. They recut and redited a lot of the espisodes. Dumped almost the first couple episode entirely and put other episodes out of order. The reason is, Harmony Gold feels that "macross was too slow for the american attention span" and they took their own liberties to make their own variants.

In anime series usually allowed to run at a minimum of 22-26 episodes a season. American networks (at the time) on the other hand require around 82 to launch an animation series. So while the original story of macross was complete around i think 36 episodes and launched subsequent series with completely different storylines. Harmony Gold thought it would be genius to "glue" all of them together and try to dub in a different story so it would all work together.

So yes Robotech does not = Macross, and this new series is just insult to injury. Even more insulting is that AnimeEigo who did a wonderful job on remastering the original macross, got pushed over by ADV and Harmony Gold through a lawsuit loophole. AnimeEigo owns the rights to macross - Harmony Gold/ADV owns robotech. Superior courts who can care less on the fine technicalities of this of course sided with ADV- who has enough financial backing to run this case until AnimeEigo is out of business. So in the end AnimeEigo was forced to stop selling their remastered macross, while ADV/Harmony gold puts out more crap like this.

    so yes

hmmm american script writing with animation outsourced to korea, with the series being taken out of its original context.

I never really liked either omacross or robotek (besides one of the macross movies), but i must say that was a very well put together argument

Man, this looks crap. Very cold style, badly done 3D cg that doesn't blend in well at all.

    Dismissed /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif
