    Sega of Japan just posted the trailer for their upcoming arcade game called Border Break. The game is being developed by Sega’s AM2.

    The boys at NeoGaf have a pretty good thread with info about the game. It is suppose to be a 10 vs 10 3rd person shooter. The cabinet is suppose to look like the one used for Answer X Answer.

    The game is suppose to have the following three modes of play: National Play, Single Player Practice and Customize Mode. The objective of the game is to locate and destroy the opponents core, located in their base. If no one can destroy the core in the given time limit the core’s energy gauge will be reduced, making it easier for someone to win.

    When the match is over you will have the ability to see your results and chance to customize your vehicle’s parts and weapons. The game has four types of vehicles: a solider class, heavy class, support class, and Sniper class.

    Border Break is running on Sega’s new arcade hardware called Ringedge/Ringwide! Remember that trademark we posted about?

    New arcade hardware? That can only mean one thing... Another major Virtua Fighter revision to show off it's capabilities! Or a new VF! I hope so anyway... This game looks hot but chances are if your not living in Japan you'll never get to try it.

    Isn't the lindbergh that runs Sega Rally 3 more powerful than this?

    Maybe they decided to go for cost effective hardware rather than something more powerful than the lindberg.

    from wikipedia (not the most credible source in the world but bear with me):

    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Lindbergh Specifications

    * CPU: Pentium 4 3.0 GHz with 1 megabyte L2 Cache, Hyper Threading Compatible, 800 MHz FSB
    * RAM: 184 pin DDR SDRAM PC3200(400 MHz) 512 MB × 2(Dual)
    * GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 AGP (NV40), 256 Bit GDDR3 256 MB, compatible with Vertex Shader 3.0 & Pixel Shader 3.0
    * Sound: 64 channel, 5.1 ch SP-DIF
    * LAN: On board, 10/100/1000 BASE-TX. JVS I/O Connector
    * Serial: 2 Channel (can switch one channel between 232C and 422)
    * Other: USB port x 4, Compatible HDTV (High Definition), DVD Drive Support, Sega ALL.NET online support
    * Operating System: Linux[26]

    </div></div>

    so if this is anything to go by, the ringedge destroys the lindbergh.

    The game reminds me of Virtual On, made by AM3. I wonder if it shares similar controls.

    edit: never mind, I read the neogaf forums.

    It also reminds me of Virtual-On (its speed and pre-packaged accessibility) however, in my mind it also seems to combine elements from Chromehounds. Namely; the type system, multi player strategy elements and changeable parts.

    It looks very promising but unless there's a chance that it'll eventually be ported to the home consoles I don't want to follow the development of an interesting game that I'll probably never get to play.

    But I guess if there will be a home port it'll be a long way away. So I look forward to being pleasently surprised in the future.
