New York Tournament Question

I was just wondering when the next tournament in New York is going to take place.

 

If you live in or near NYC, there are weekly meetups on Friday nights at Web 2 Zone.

If you just want to compete in a tournament, NYCVF is planning an event sometime in August. More news will be updated soon.

Johnathon aka AlexStrife, the guy that hosts Casual Fridays at Web 2 Zone wants to have an FT tourney on September 1.

Johnathon of Web2Zone is postponing the VF tourney he had planned this Friday waiting for me to help co-host. Tentative date is Friday, Sept. 8. My aplogies for the short notice to the NYC peeps that were planning on coming out tomorrow.

NYCVF FT gathering/ tourney in works.

I'm trying to set an official date for NYC's big VF gathering tourney but don't want to step on peoples toes. I figure the best time to hold a gathering would be the weekend after midterms this semester. Problem is this date is different for many schools. My guess is that by the third weekend in October midterms should be overwith.

That would be Friday 10/20/06 to Sunday 10/22/06.

I would like some feedback from everyone, especially the players from afar in NA (SoCal, NoCal, Ohio, STL, Florida, DC/VA, Canada and Boston crews). I want to have this event open to as many people as possible. Let me know if these are good days and I'll confirm it.

I can make it for an evening on friday through sunday morning (gotta be back pretty early so I can do lesson plans). But the 10/20-22. sounds like an awesome plan! I am gunna go form like voltron!!

The weekend in question is an LSU home game...meaning 90,000+ more people in the neighborhood of my restaurant & no travelling for vf. The next weekend there is no home game but a bad weekend because of the time change (big night on saturday and lots of halloween parties etc). I'm with phoenix on November though fall generally means lots of Louie's for me. Post up and I'll see what I can do.

I suggested late October because I didn't want it to be too close to Thanksgiving. I have no problem pushing the date further to the first or second week of November. I wish I could make a poll. /versus/images/graemlins/indifferent.gif

The definitive date will be announced on Friday, September 15 '06. I will create a new thread and post up on the VFDC calendar.

Flying into JFK or LaGuardia is ideal, Newark is third option. I don't know much at all about the airport in Long Island and how accessible it is to the city.

I'm planning to rent a loft in NYC like we did in '04. (Plague's gatherings have convinced me VF'ers don't need fancy lodgings ) I haven't looked at the total cost of this as yet but I'm personally trying to keep the cost to the players to a bare minimum. If anything I promise accommodations for anyone attending to be under $100 for the whole weekend.
