    Hi, all... I'm kinda new to VF. I'm Tekken & DOA player actually. But when I found out the fighting system in VF, I couldn't denied, it's way too cool! I've decided to play the game more seriously. And I've picked Sarah as my first character. Well, since she's sort of like Hwoarang, with those Flamingo stuff.

    So, please guide me... /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    Sup... I don't play much sarah but I might whip up a guide for ya.

    In general your big combo starters are f+K and db+K
    the usual combo is [6][K] - [3][P],[K] --> [8][K]

    For throws her f,db+P+G is good (guaranteed ground kick and rarely escaped) and for easier damage, b,f+P+G is good.

    I'll write more eventually, good luck.

    Hey, this is pretty nice respond! Thanx. At first, I though someone's gonna say, check out the FAQs, n00b! LOL. Well, I'm definitely read the FAQs I need. Of course, by reading the FAQs, I'll get more. But by making this thread, just wanna have some of your different opinions. Thanx anyway. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    IMO, Sarah is the best "rush down" character in the game. She also has excellent Okizime. Her [9]+[K] is great for breaking rising attacks. After it hits, quickly press [G] and follow up with [3]+[P], [K] [7]+[K]. Once the opponent stops using rising attacks, you can pressure them with flamingo stance as they get up. [FL] [K]+[G], [P]+[G] throw works great in this situation. Just enter flamingo stance, press [K]+[G], then hit [P]+[G] as soon as Sarah's leg makes contact. The great thing about this throw is that it works even if the kick is blocked. This is a fairly slow move however, so don't abuse it. Other usefull moves from flamingo stance are: [K], [8] or [2]+[P]+[K], [2]+[K] [P]+[G] (hit throw), [2][4][8][6]+[P]+[G](catch throw) and [7]+[K]. When Sarah enters flamingo stance, the opponent's natural reaction is to crouch and avoid the high kicks. They're very hard to interrupt with standing attacks, plus they interrupt low punches. You can also deflect low punches with [P]+[K], then immediately follow up with [6]+[K]+[G], [1]+[K]. If the opponent crouches and waits, you can sometimes gamble and catch them off guard with [7]+[K]. Her [2] or [8]+[P]+[K] is a useful dodging kick that stuns the opponent for a short time. You can follow that up with [7]+[K]. If all else fails, you can always backflip out of danger with [4]. This avoids everything except throws.

    In her normal stance, she's got the standard punch/elbow/sidekick/knee just like everyone else, so just stick with those (and destroy your opponent's low attacks with [8]+[K]+[G]).

    Float combos:

    1. [1]+K (or [6]+[K]) -> [3]+[P], [K] -> [7]+[K]

    2. [1]+K (or [6]+[K]) -> [P], [P] -> [1][K]+[G] -> [3]+[K] (ground attack). Do this combo agaist the lighter characters.

    I'm afraid I can't offer much technical advice on how to use Sarah but she too was the fist character I played as (I come from a background of Tekken and DOA as well and PS2 VF4 is the first I'Ve played in the series).What I will say is all her [G]+[K] moves are dead useful.The set up I use on my pad is as follows( it's bloody useful as I'm trying to master Akira right now.)
    [G]=Square
    [G]=Triangle
    [P]=Cross button
    [K]=Circle
    Good luck man

    Good moves for Sarah:
    [6][P][K] free knockdown from elbow, mix up with [6][P][3][P] which is uncounterable
    [P][2][K] the sidekick is better than her default sidekick
    [1][K] best combo starter IMHO, avoids some high attacks but easier to dodge than [6][K]
    [4][K]+[G] free pounce and fast = good midrange move
    [8][K][G] stuffs low moves, decent combo starter
    FL [P] quickest way to exit flamingo (faster than [G]), guaranteed after MC [4][K]
    FL [4] avoids most attacks
    [6][1][P]+[G] best throw, not escaped much and free ground kick
    b&b combo for MC hit on light/midweights: [1][K], [4][4][P][K], [1][K] otherwise stick with [1][K], [3][P][K], [8][K]
    FL [2][K], [P]+[G] hit throw is too good /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    CSNAPE:

    I might as well get into this discussion. Might just be the first gameplay thread I've actually participated in.

    Combo starter:
    The dragon Cannon: [1_]+[K]

    The combo Creed stated is her staple combo started with Dragon Cannon, then [3_]+[P][K]->[8_]+[K]

    This combo even works against heavyweights.
    Against lightweights such as Pai, sneak in the extra punch after the dragon cannon.

    If the opponent loves to do a rising attack... meaning that he/she does a kick or attack after being knocked down, do a knee just as the opponent gets up: [6_]+[P], which will float the opponent, then follow with the staple combo stated above: [3_]+[P][K]->[8_]+[K]

    when showing that you've got variation, try [P]->[4_]+[K]->[8_]+[K]

    A couple of these will condition opponents.

    But, here's a more complex manuever. at midrange, do a sabaki, which is a parry/counter type attack that ovverrides most of the opponents attacks. When it's successful, it makes a sort of sucking noise. It's distinctive. Anyway one of her sabakis: [P]+[K], this will put you in Flamingo. If your opponent was countered, he/she will stagger. If staggered, follow with a simple [P], then quickly do her angel throw: [6_][1_]+[P]+[G].

    This is a variation of the standard [P] then do a throw of your choice. Most players expect a string after the first punch. So this will throw your opponent off.

    Of course, the effect of any attack in Flamingo is increased with conditioning input from Flamingo stance. Do not be predictable when in FL. If you're not fast enough in FL, a [2_]+[P] will counter some of your follow moves. Condition the opponent with quick Kicks right after getting into FL. It's simple to do all 3 kicks right after, but if you do and the last kick is blocked, you're in position to be punished big time. 2 kicks, then [2_]+[G]+[K] will put in some variatioin.

    A [6_]+[K] while in FL will crush your opponents standing guard and stagger, and a quick [8_] or [7_]+[K] will gurantee a hit, you may also want to sneak in a throw here and there to keep your opponent guessing.

    One last tip: if your opponent likes to [2_]+[P] a lot, a [8_]+[K] will "jump" over the punch.

    Oops, this is the last one: a guessing game move. Fly into the opponent with a [6_]+[G]+[K], then do a quick [P][K]. Show this move a couple times, as you will have frame advatage after the first move. After, you may follow with [3_]+[P][K] to get you back into FL. Rinse, repeat, and vary.

    Later, do a variation of this: [6_]+[P]+[G]->[4_][4_]+[P]->then either [1_]+[K] for a crouching opponent, or [2_]+[K] for a standing opponent. Funny mind game.

    Remember though, the worse thing that you can be in VF is predictable.

    Heya Catch22...not to nitpick, really, just a comment. When putting commands into the text, try and use [6], [4],[1],[3] etc for tapping directions. By listing all the motions as their holding cousin, [6_],[4_],[1_],[3_] - technically you're implying holding every motion /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif I, too, prefer the orange colour to the white, but it does have more use than just variation of colour.

    cheers,

    Point taken. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif I see the tap and hold commands now. Whoops. Like I said, it was my first time posting any type of gameplay advice. Again, I learn something new about posting and etiquite, and bootleg sountracks almost everyday.

    You're not doing anything wrong. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif In the original PS2 VF4 (v.C), her dragon cannon was indeed [1][K]. But in Evolution, the command input has changed to [3][3][K].

    If you're anything like me, you're probably doing lots wrong /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif But yeah...the command for Sarah's dragon cannon was changed for evo to [3][3][K]...the info in this thread is VF4c specific, but a good deal of it should carry over. There are evo specific Sarah threads too, so check those out & if you can get on IRC you might be able to get your hands on Tragic's Sarah combo vid, which is pretty bitchin'.

    Other than VFDC & IRC, the gamedisk itself is a great resource for you. Check out tactics advice for as many characters as you can stand & try and dial the stuff for your main(s) (completing the combos/series usually nets you a pretty cool item) & complete the tutorial & as much of the challenge mode as you can handle. After this, all you will need is some competition & things will be wonderful. Have a blast.
