Is there any secret to mastering the game totally, besides playing it 23 hrs. a day and only resting to take a leak?
'cause the problem is, i don't have the free time to play vf4 all day /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Nope no secret at all just practice, patient and perseverence. Instead of practicing for 23 hours why don't you just take one or two hours and focus on the specific stuff that you're having problems with, whether it be a combo or combos, throw escaping, evading, guarding... Unless you're in a REAL hurry, there really isn't any reasons to rush things and try to learn everything all at once. Learn the basics then play quest or vs mode and everytime you lose don't get pissed off that you didn't get the prize or whatever x dan, instead try to remember why you lost and focus your one or two hours of practice time on that.

What's the deal with the long ass name ?

I'm not by far to be considered a skilled player, but what I would do is to complete all training modes, if you haven't done so already. Pay some extra attention to the series and combos part and what to use against what weight class. Practice them and add them one by one to your repertoire as you get comfortable using them.

Also, play around with all characters to get a basic understanding of them to be able to predict what they throw at you.

That's what I do anyway, hope you get some help from it.

your playing style depends on your character. Who are you using?

I`m using Vanessa (newb, 9th dan), and my tactic is
    1) using small, safe attacks until the opp. screws up, and then hit him/her with all I got.
    2) throwing the sh*t of out him if his is being to passive
    3) luring him/her next to a wall, and from there on it`s easy
