News Submission

So this is a bit of a continuation from a shoutbox discussion. It spawned out of lots of heated discussion over the frontpage news.

In my experience, the ideal way to handle front page news is without a doubt a "Submit News" button. Then just have someone fill out their name (or require a login on VFDC), and some info + links to whatever their news might be. Whether it's tournament footage, casuals footage, a thread with new tech (^^), or a stream archive.

Right now, to submit news, you basically have to know someone on the site who handles it. You can definitely just say it in the shoutbox enough and "HOPE" that the information gets to the right hands, but we all know this isn't really ideal. Putting it in a thread also isn't enough (there are a shitton of threads on this site).

I honestly feel like SRK handles news the right way. They have a "SUBMIT A TIP" button, which just emails the moderators of the front page. Then they decide if they want to write a small article to present the information.

Here's the part where I stress that I'm not demanding anything, or calling anyone out, and the current system definitely can work, it's just not obvious. I can go to SRK and know how to submit news in the BEST POSSIBLE WAY without even being a frequent visitor of the site. But I can't go to VFDC and submit news in the BEST POSSIBLE WAY without doing a little research first.

Also I realize that this is basically WORK. No matter how you spin the idea, this is WORK for someone, plain and simple. But I think it would be healthy for VFDC and VF in general.
