I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to get tired of Dural and the whole storyline. I'm not saying that they should get rid of her but Am2 needs to come up with a new boss. She was cool back in the 90's, now I think it's time for a change. I mean c'mon, she doesn't have that Final Boss appeal anymore. I think they need to come up with a real badass type boss with some type of charisma. A boss like Geese Howard, M. Bison, Akuma, or Heihachi Mishima. Have her as a bonus character or something, and give me a BAD GUY with his own fighting style, heck he could be the CEO of the corporation who created Dural. Let me know what y'all think about the idea of a new boss.

Actually, VF4 is the first game Dural's had a substantially unique fighting style (albeit with way too much "realistic physics"). I want some more of that triple flipkick goodness /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Since when did Heihachi have charisma? /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I totally agree that Dural isn't the best type of boss fighter. What bothers me about Dural is that she isn't ferocious because her skills are more refined and deadly, it's because she has ludicrous speed. And no personality... at all. I think personality is what you meant to say instead of charisma. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif She's a faceless, practically formless character.
We need an evil, devious boss with a good story and screen presence. When I lose I want to think "You're a sly one, you corrupt worm!" not (as in Durals case) "Oh cmon! Please... there's no way in hell I could have reacted to that speed-freak insanity! I'll get you next time you ... you... chrome thing!" /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

And I'm sick of seeing fighting games where the boss shares most or all of their moves with the other characters in the game. What a cop out. I want to be forces to have a totally different strategy against the boss than I would with any of the other fighters. Time to shift into high gear and pull out all the stops type gameplay. Yeah... /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What are you after? Now ogre morphing to true ogre was a true boss but it wouldn't be right in a VF gamer surely?

Nah, the ogres were gay. At least Dural is human. If virtua fighter started putting animals and beast-like bosses in their games, I would lose all respect.

Dural 4 life baby! It wouldn't be the same without her. She's like a blatant F You to fighting game story fluff. It's like one of VF's trademarks (like no endings). All she needs is a new gimmic for every new VF game (hopefully something to top VF2).

Haha exactly! I respect VF series coz they don't put in all those stupid animals with half-assed or imitation moves.

If I see like a donkey doing kung fu in VF5, I'd write to Yu Suzuki and say,"Whatever you're smoking, can you send me 2?" lol

I do, however think we need an actual boss. With his/her OWN fighting style. He can still be faster and stronger, but with the style should be totally unique.

Dural is the best boss ever. Think about it. When you have just run through all the fighting styles in VF, nothing says Last stage like fighting a character who is all those styles(made cheesy)in one.

Yeah, VF Kids endings were top tier (especially Kage's) but it's still a throwback game. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ok, you're right and it was pretty cool - the first time.

But that concept has been beaten to death by the likes of whatsitsname in SC, Shang Tsung in MK1, Unknown in Tekken Tag just at the top of my head...

I'd like to see something fresh and different.

That's exactly what I mean, something fresh and different. I'm not saying they should get rid of her though. She could still be a boss, just not the final one.

IMO, all the characters in VF are boss.

So because other games rip off V( badly)F, VF has to change? Naaah.
Besides, I would rather see Dural again (she's a trademark of the series), instead of having AM2 "waste" research and development time on creating a new non-playable boss character.
VF is a versus fighting game. AM2 should not waste resources on a boss for single player mode.

Regardless of who copies who, any good developer should keep coming up with new concepts and be creative to stay ahead of the competition.

And if AM2 does come up with a totally new boss, chances are that he/she will be unlockable so they're not wasting time creating a new character.

For the record: Ogre was a decent character concept and was only marginally successful in design. He was also very human-ish in nature. Not too far out there.
True Ogre was the flop from square one.

If Dural stays Im fine with it. True she's kind of a trademark for the VFs. But give me something new... something more menacing. Defeating Dural never gave me the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that a WELL DONE boss should.

Who said he had to be non-playable. Why the hell would I want a new character with a new fighting style if I can't play with him and the last time I checked, Dural was a playable character, so you must have the bootleg version. Every fighting game copied something from another fighting game, as long as it's well done I don't care what they do. Street fighter 2 is the most copied game. I don't even have to give exemples to prove that.

Err that was my point the fact that in Tekken ,Ogre-True Ogre was a feasible boss but in the real world fighting background of VF any form of monster/animal would be stupid.

Dural is only playable in the home version as a bonus. Picking her is considered cheating since she's so much better because of her mad canned combos and her nigh-unfloatable weight.
What I meant was I'd rather see AM2 use their resources on developing a balanced character that you can play in normal competition (or bringing Taka back) than "wasting" them on developing a new boss that won't be allowed in a competetive environment.

I never thought of it that way. I'd very much rather have Taka back than have a new boss.
