I want to give a big shoutout to everyone who signed up for VF5:FS @ Norcal and did not show up. The Sega Reps did there best, but it got to the point that there were so many people that did not attend, that the first 45 mins of the Tournament was just a endless roll call VFDC members.

Anyway, I have alot of great footage of the event in picture and video form. Have some "Rare" video of most of the single player modes in the game. Also have pics of the Tournament bracket. All footage will be uploaded on Tuesday when I get back to NC.

Actually I need to thank anyone who signed up for this. Because of the amount people, SEGA decided to have 4 setup instead of 2 only. SEGA did a great job today.

The game is still demo version but I actually do some dojo test. The only thing bugs me is the combo list is too lame, and I hope SEGA is still working on this cuz it's not like Evo combo mode.

SEGA rep said the released date is still unknown, because they haven't decided yet....

This was HYPE!! I had a blast, and I got a shirt too! [IMG]

Shout outs to Renzo, Zerochan, DKL, Dennis, Akuma001 (i think??) Scamp and anyone else that I'm forgetting. Had some great matches with you all. Can't wait for the final release! [IMG]

You're welcome. If you were to see them play, you'd get the wrong idea anyway.
      ----

Yay, I didn't get fucked over by brackets this time (still gonna lose to Dennis/Renzo, but top 3 is fitting).

      ----

Oh yeah, Sega, you're welcome as well. I did my best to display the combo system during the Top 8, and from what I heard from the crowd sounded good. Maybe it was the Trolling...

So...do anyone know what was the turnout for the tourney?

@novriltataki mentioned on twitter "wow they capped the entry for the vf tournament at 64 and turned the rest down"

Was the actual participation a lot less because of no shows?

Heh, I don't think it was any trolling going on, CGB_Spender. The crowd sounded genuinely excited to see the big boys (Wolf and Taka) kick ass with the moves you and Dennis were pulling off with them.

      good job dennis, renzo, sebo!

thanks sega for once again coming out and supporting the fighting game scene. i think you are doing a great job in promoting final showdown by coming to events like this and hope other areas can get some of the great treatment you show norcal.

thanks to cpsiv, kineda, ipw, and the rest of the ncr staff for throwing another hype event. there was alot of action across all games. the venue was bunk compared to previous ncr's though since it was at a school compared to at a hotel. no booze, no smoking on campus, no getting drunk and just crashing in your room upstairs, etc.

for those that missed out there were 4 setups on asus monitors with hrap sticks attached, 3 ps3 and 1 360 i think. the build seemed pretty much finished and you could select various 1p modes. (i didn't mess around with it since the times i hopped on it was just to play few games of vs. with other people) can't really say much else about it due to not messing with it. there was plenty of time for casuals and lots of people got to try things out. i got there around 2pm and was able to play a bunch before tourney time which started around 3.

i used my virtua stick high grade in place of the hraps they had on deck for tourney time. dualmod vshg worked great on both consoles for those that still have theirs from ver.c days.

i thought the tourney was run pretty smooth once they figured out the no shows and that the sega reps did a good job of handling things with what they had to work with with no shows and players playing in pool play for other games at the same time. the place was pretty much packed and it was hard to hear names at first. (i kept hearing them call for chief flash and shirts and was like wtf why would those bums come here just to get hotdogged by me! j/k :p)

anyways i heard some people were trying to get in the bracket but the reason people were turned down was because the brackets were already filled from people who registered online. sega expected all of them to be there and they did their best to handle the situation by calling for those players in case they were there for as long as they could before they had to move on.

top 8 results off the top of my head

      winners side

      dennis
      renzo
      001
      radical reactor

      losers side

      zero chan
      sebo
      hatperson
      dkl

in my bracket i played 4 matches. noteable players were sile pai and hatperson and a jeffery player whom i forgot the name. my match with hatperson was really close and i squeaked out a win with dumb luck. i hate playing that guy. j/k :p

once top 8 was figured out the plan for the stream was to play it down to top 3 and then stream those matches for sunday. traditionally ncr is a 2 day event with pool play on saturday and sunday all top 8 matches for spectators.

i lost to dennis and then lost to sebo which i pretty much expected to happen due to still playing the game like it's ver.c. [IMG] but playing on stage was fun and hearing my friends cheer for me was pretty hype. its not often you get to play vf on stage with your friends and a big screen next to you and huge crowd at your back and people taking pictures in your face.

i was asked to do commentary with tastysteve but kinda forgot after i played my matches and only got to commentate on zerochan vs. radical reactor which was kinda funny for me because i have no idea what vanessa does and could only say things like yo ugh! nice counterhit! nice kick nice punch nice throw blah blah blah. commentating was kinda hard because i was still thinking about the matches i had just played too.

anyways just wanna say good seeing everybody who hung around the fs section. dennis, sebo, renzo, scamp, zerochan, hatperson, quash, soakrates, radical reactor, dkl, laban, tremar510, sile pai, orven, tastysteve, 2nd kyu devyn and anyone else i forgot. wish i could talk to everybody more and hope everyone comes to southtown next week.

for those that missed out, it's really worth it to come to these events because the stream only shows so much. (like me getting whooped on by dennis and sebo [IMG] )

i don't think i'mma go today, got home at 4am after hitting a bar and playing bunk sfxt with some locals from another arcade i haven't been to in awhile. i'm only up because i have a hangover. [IMG]

in other news i had a good time getting drunk and sarcastically rubbing in to my streetfighter playing friends that i'm the only top 5 finisher at a norcal regionals in all our area in any game in 10 years. (which is 100% true and fact and i can prove it with this shirt :p) sad story mang
