"You had to see it live!"
Well unfortunately, you probably didn't... but at least you can catch the re-broadcast!

Saw an awesome match in a tournament? Maybe an amazing First to 10? Maybe the best casual session ever?! And this was on a livestream somewhere and you worry people won't see it because people have better things to do then go archive-diving? Well now there's a place to share the enthusiasm!

Feel free to post it here with the link, author, the context of the match (tournament, money match, first to 10, casuals), and timestamps (or approximations)! And feel free to link supplemental material if any.

Notes: Because of the nature of livestreams, it is common (for better and for worse) that the author will be responding to a chat log we cannot see. Keep this in mind and please understand that this is part of the nature of livestreams. Also, these are not professional productions (though some can be pro-worthy) and should not be held to such standards. Livestreamers should almost never be considered as experts or paid professionals (unless they really truly are), it is best to consider them as your peers who are merely sharing their perspective, gameplay, and a bit of their life to the online world.

Wednesday Night Fights (Exciting Top 3 Matches) - 8/15/12
    Stream: VFSocal
    Author: VFSocal (aka Brisal73)
    Air Date: 8/15/12
The Top 3 matches, starting with the Winner's Finals were some exciting Southern California VF as the Top 3 seeds battled it out for the week's championships. In order of seeding: LA Akira (Shun), Dre Fei (Akira), and Goat Cheese Blues (Sarah) brought the intensity and it was very much worth watching!

    Two videos:

Bracket (Contains Spoilers... obviously... actually maybe not)
Umm... the bracket is incorrectly handled because it treats this like a single elimination tournament when it was a double elimination tournament. It only shows the Winner's Bracket without the Grand Finals. Well, at least the Top 3 results are still a mystery :p

    Stream: VFTV Live on UStream

The Battle Audition tournaments are very entertaining to watch with a lot of high level play for all characters! Too bad if you didn't catch it live, but you can now catch it archived! That said, if you have not done so already, you should check out Akai's Battle Audition Summary Thread in the General Forums for VF5FS!

(Side Note: I reposted the link to Battle Audition here because it's worth linking again and also to draw attention to Akai's thread in General Forums)

UGS Live - 9/8/12 - Cozby (Goh) vs. Masang Lion (Lion :p)
    Stream: UGS Live
    Author: Ultimate Gaming Spot
    Air Date: 9/8/12

Thanks for Rodnutz for spreading the news about this session as it was happening! Cozby goes to Massachusetts and has a session with VF players at Ultimate Gaming Spot. All of the matches are actually worth watching and you will see Cozby play a crazy variety of characters. My personal favorites of the session was his series against Masang Lion, who has got to be one of the cleanest and best Lions I have seen in the US so far! Very good, clean matches!

Again, don't forget that there are a lot of other good matches and sets in this session! And don't forget to check out UGS' Facebook page if you use Facebook (it's linked above).

This thread needs so much more love! the i46 UK Tourney was very nice. Don't get to see the European players in action all that often, offline especially. And I didn't even catch the East Coast monster room that Aya was in. I actually have nearly the same video on my youtube page, a room w/ me, flash, rodney, adam, and denkai if you wanna add that :D

In short I love this thread :)

Note: Pay no attention to the seed numbers of the challonge bracket--because of the way Challonge handles bracket making, it does not reflect the actual seeding order of the players used to create the bracket. Furthermore, the design of the bracket was designed with both skill and regional priority & matchup diversity in mind.

Thanks for the post, Chanchai *fist bump* :)

Great showing all round and I was really impressed with Buktooth's performance considering how new to the game he is! His solid FG experience was really shining at times and I can't wait to see how he's getting on once he becomes more fluent in the game.

    Thanks, Myke!

Buktooth was an exciting story for me as well at EOS 2012! I guess this will be a sneak peak from my report on the event.

When I heard from both Afro-Cole and DKN on Saturday night that Buktooth would join the tournament on Sunday, I was pretty excited! I even went the rounds telling the other VF players to watch out for the guy--that he probably doesn't know how to do max damage as much, but he should be watched out for because he plays the game correctly and is the guy that's been playing with Afro-Cole, Duncan T (a kid I'm always looking out for as potentially scary strong in the future), and DKN. The word was that he plays really strong fundamentals though he didn't know how to do max damage, especially around walls.

I wasn't the only one giving the other VFers a heads up. On Friday night, Mike B. actually brought up Buktooth to some of us, because he also got word of how strong Buktooth is. We had a nice conversation Friday night about it, I told Mike that "yeah, this is the guy who has been playing with Cole and Duncan, Duncan says he's the only guy in Seattle who doesn't abare without a reason--who doesn't just hit buttons. Gotta be careful! Wish he was playing at EOS..."

How I knew about Buktooth playing VF: I talk to Duncan T once in awhile and I talk to Afro-Cole once in awhile as well. And both mention how he kicks their butts in the game when they happen to play VF. It's not quite a secret thing or anything like that, more like they hang out, someone says "let's play VF" and they play. I also asked DKN about Buktooth on Saturday night after Cole told me Buktooth was in the tournament. I didn't want to know specifics, just generally how he plays (I hate knowing too many details before a tournament, I prefer to try to work with or around the opponent's game with what information they provide on the day of... Not that I can say I actually do much reading in my play lol).

Buktooth has been playing Final Showdown "casually" since maybe 1-2 months before it was released on console? I think he had access to an early build because of work. It was around this time he posted interest in VF in the Northwest Street Fighter facbeook and asked if others wanted to play hehe (talk about an awesome *wink*).

Apparently you can also watch Buktooth play VF4Evo at Evo when it was there! He got Top 8 but I heard the turnout was low at that tournament.

Going into the match, I told him I was not going to underestimate him and that I was excited to finally get to play him and see how he plays because I had heard about his VF and I have a lot of respect for it. He kept downplaying his game, saying he's not that good. I was like "yeah, well... I'm not going to underestimate you!" lol

This match was the most fun match I had at EOS 2012 outside of the match with AyuFanb0y. This match also loosened me up, got rid of a lot of nerves and reminded me to fight freely and just enjoy myself in the tournament. Well, also knowing how strong AyuFanb0y is allowed me to go in with nothing to lose against him too. Back to Buktooth, I told myself to enjoy the match as it started, and don't be surprised if I get knocked out of the tournament by him.

After the match, he was a bit frustrated because in much of the match I won on Lion's uppercut (2_3P) gimmick. More specifically, I was nailing his sidekick oki attempt with Lion's uppercut which has BS properties in situations like this. Well, I also told him if he mastered the timing for that sidekick I would have been killed, but since he was late, I was able to do an uppercut which cheats out of disadvantage against sidekicks and some other movies (a lot of high kicks, etc...). That said, it only combos on Major Counter, so I was hitting him during execution--his sidekick was late (even so, I sometimes wonder if the weird hitbox makes the move hit the opponent during their attack's active hit frames without being hit by their hit frames--that would explain the "gimmick" and BS nature of this attack...). Losing to the uppercut was probably the only time he really lost composure in the match, because he didn't want to believe he was getting hit by it so he persisted in repeating the situation (and yelling out "What?!").

In any case, I had so much fun fighting Buktooth and I really hope we get to see more of him. The hard part is, the guy rarely shows up to events, especially casual ones and I don't think anyone will be able to lock him in for a session without just straight up hanging out with the guy at his place. He is also as notorious for showing up late to tournaments as Afro-Cole is lol--VF was no exception.

Pretty amazing gamer, though! And oh yeah, HE WON THE MYSTERY GAME TOURNAMENT!

Wednesday Night FIghts 9/12/12 - The Rise of Miles & BL (Southern California)
    Stream: VF Socal
Organizer: Level|Up Live & VF Socal
    Air Date: 9/12/12

Southern California's Wednesday Night Fights has been a successful rallying force for the SoCal VF scene, getting veterans and new players to VF together in a competitive and fun atmosphere. In fact, SoCal VF is seeing a new formula to sustain the VF scene, collaboration with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (and perhaps other 3d fighters) events!

VF was tested at this event because of the launch of Tekken Tag 2, but having the VF and TTT2 tournaments on the same night proved wise and helpful to both communities as players participated in both tournaments. This continues to be a winning formula for both games!

Anyways, the real story of this tournament is the rise of Miles and BL. BL brings another strong Jacky to the scene, also from Tekken. Miles brings an interesting story by sporting a Lei Fei that, at least in this tournament, resembles PhoenixDth's Lei Fei very much and is apparently inspired by it after Miles saw PD play at a VF Party a couple of weeks prior to this tournament. PhoenixDth is one of my favorite VF players out of the West Coast and this was definitely a treat.

The future of Miles and BL look very bright in VF!

0:35:30 - BL (Jacky) vs. LA Akira (Shun) - Main SF

    2:29:05 - 4th Place Match
    2:34:20 - 3rd Place Match
    2:38:23 - Grand Finals
At the very least, watch BL vs. LA (0:35:30), Winner's Finals (1:33:00), and from 2:20:20 onward!

VF5:FS Side Wall Training and Lau's Side Wall Game
    Stream: http://twitch.tv/johoseph
    Air Date: 10/18/12

An informal session about side wall hits and how to set them up, and how to look for moves that will work.

I begin by going over a small bit about Jacky for Aya. Afterwards I jump into Kage's side wall hit moves, a brief section on Goh, and a very brief section on Pai.

@8 minutes: I show off all of Lau's possibilities with side wall hits. I go over the common moves used to get them, so you can look out for how to avoid them. Pay close attention to things like the position of the characters and Lau's stance. It will help immensely in staying away from Lau's wall game.
@22 minutes: I go over the applications of Lau's [2][1][4][P][+][G] throw near the wall. And WHEN you should be most worried about it, based on stance.
