Electronic Geeks, I have a question.

I wanted to play a downloaded US or Japanese game. But I'm in Europe, so my TV is PAL-Secam or something like that. But it seems to accept some ntsc colors (blah blah blah, it's rather complicated..). Now..I have a Scart Cable (all the pins) linked from the PS2 to my marvelous TV. I'm able to play VF4 and Evo in 60hz with NTSC colors.
Does this mean I may play any American or Japanese game in the console (forget the Chipmod part, That I can get easily..)?
Or Do I need something else? Thanks for the help =)

Yes you can play Jap and US games since they have NTSC and You can play VF4 in 60hz mode.
Here In Greece we play Jap games in our PS2(modified) using the Scart cable!

Cool. I have THE scart cable =). BTW, is there any external chip to play ripped games? How much does it cost, and what are it's disadvantages. Thank you!

One more thing, FFX-2 will have some online options, but if I get a ripped version and I try to access online what do you think that will happen? The online service doesn't look for pirate cds, so I guess it's no big deal..And even If I do access online with it, if the version is the US one, will I be sent to the US online service?! Hmm.. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I really don't know about these 2 issues. I have a Jap PS2 and original Jap games. But here in Greece there is a chaos from modified consoles (Psone, PS2, Xbox) and ripped games. For PS2 the modification chip they called it "messiah" (I think). So I don't know what this external chip is?
I am not so interested about console modifications and ripped games. I had PAL PS2 but I did not wanted to modify it (there is a big risk about that->it is possible that console's "life" is going to end shortly!!) so I sold it and bought a Jap PS2 to play Jap versions!!!!!!!!

Honestly..the problem is not about Jap or not games. It's because I need the US version when it comes out. And I hope it's as good as the european version, because square usually compensates the 50hz with some nice extras..Anyway, I want to play the us version in my ps2. First thing, as you guys told me, I should be able to do it as I do have the Scart cable, right? And if my Ps2 and TV play VF4-Evo in 60hz NTSC, any us game should run just fine (I hope..). Then, there's the "getting the game" problem. I need the game, but I don't want to pay 100€ for it...(for the ignorant americans out there: 1€ is something like 1,22 dolars). The shipping from the US to my home is expensive, and my country has some really high fees for transportation (and for letting the products come IN the country). When I imported my Evo Arcade Stick and Memory card (evo too) I was supposed to pay 75€ for the two products, plus 50€ additional for the shipping (UPS). BUT when it got here, some guy asked for 70€ more because of the "in-country" stuff... I payed something close to 200€ just to get a fucking arcade stick and a memory card. My parents almost killed me the day it arrived.
That's why I need to get the ripped version of the game. I don't mind paying for it, I have money the I keep throughout the year, but I don't want to spend 200€ again in a game...

This is my explanation. Instead of continuing to talk about this here, as it seems kinda "illegal" private message me if you know a site or something to get ripped games. Thank you. And sorry for the inconveniance.
