All I know is what little drabs of info came out of IRC.

so first, HUGE congratulations to Adnan for taking first spot! I really hope there are some vids forthcoming!

Indeed - congrats to Kazu and Adam for stellar play. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif Many many thanks for the hospitality and the games...it was a blast.

I will write more later on and I will also post the entire bracket layout of the tourney. I have all the taped coverage and will be capping it all and the Golden's have offered to host the clips when they've been compiled. There's lots of media to come /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

cheers.

Oh yes, AMAZING play from Adnan, Kazu, Ryan Hart, IMF, Blonde, Rodney and Nelson, the Goldens, and others. I can't name them all lol. Seeing the variety of ways people play each character really opens up the game for me. (I'm sure more many others as well) I learned alot from Shou's Sarah, Jun and Kazu's Lau, tricks from Ryan Hart. It was an eye opening and great learning experience for me. What an event. Thanks to all those who attended and Adnan for organizing. I'll have to write another post just to list my thoughts on everyone. I'll do that after I get the proper rest that my body demands. I barely slept the whole time....

Stay tuned. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It was my first VF gathering and I have to say I was impressed. The tourney was especially exciting. I have never meet so many stellar players before in any game at one place. I learned a whole lot and met a bunch of really cool people. I hope to attend the next one. Until than I will have to remember to stay out of the box. =)

Mad fun gathering, much learning, and the weird thing is through all that, I just want to play VF more. I can now see how the Japanese players get 10000 wins on their cards, hope to see many players at next NY tourney or possibly at Evo. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just to jump the gun a little and satisfy people's curiousity -

1st: NY1 - kazu/adam
2nd: Florida - IMF/blondie
3rd: UK - ryan hart/hammerhead
4th: NY2 - rodney and nelson
5th: Goldens (where do they officially represent?)
6th - St. Louis - sumeragi and shou

Some of this might be inaccurate but I'm sure on the first 3 places.
Ryan hart is apparently unreal, maybe the best player there. "almost as good as shinz" is how I heard him described. Kazu is also a contender for best player, a 2-or-3-above-10th dan lau.

correction - a quick edit, I'd previously said kazu was featured in daioh clips, but I'd misheard... he's LIKE the laus in the daioh clips. I don't know if he's in any clips, though I have a few old ones of a kage named kazu. Anyway, he's a real machine.

Adam was representing, andy didn't show. Sal didn't either, so florida was able to live another day. I wish I coulda been there. It sounds like it was fun.

Although Llanfair was adamant that we represent Rochester (even though we don't live there anymore), we were all about representing our home state of New Jersey! so take your pick /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm not sure if 5th place was well defined, but I think we'd be tied with St. Louis and some others who were eliminated the same round we were...

there was an ironman - round robin deal day before the tournament, with NYC1 coming in first place (only losing one match to UK, I believe) and UK coming in 2nd place (losing two matches, once to NYC1, and once to goldens x2)... i have the ironman results and will scan and upload them soon...

On other stuff, Ryan Hart is more than really, really good... He can rock with quite a few characters... He showed off his ability to do an evade, quadrouple throw escape guard... really scary /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif He's also really good at noticing trends in peoples attacks and reacting... Many times people (myself included) would get up 2 rounds to 0 and think "yay I'm going to win" only to have him come back three rounds straight...

Another thing I noticed, if I hit him with a gut punch after Jacky's auto-punch inashi where throw is guaranteed, against me he'd go for an evade and who knows how many throw escapes (I had a tendency to do [6][6][K] after it hit)... though watching a replay him against Jerky, when Jerky hit that he just stood there blocking while Jery did a [4][6][K][G] (which would have knocked him out of the evade/throw escapes)... good yomi...

He also gave people pointers/tips throughout and would always be one of the last people to hit the sack... The last night a few of us stayed up watching replays with him that he had saved on his memory card... pretty entertaining...

Kazu was probably second best player there... His Lau is really good... I don't know much about Lau so I can't really explain what he was doing to rock everyone, but he did...

some other thoughts...

IMF: you played rock solid the day of the tournament... good stuff, congrats on 2nd place...

blondie: you also seemed to be in your groove this time too... way to represent with jacky, and thanks for the advice too - it helped out /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

shang: boston vs rochester finally happened... good stuff with wolf's frankensteiner to get people who dodged, and your aoi seems really strong too... i guess you don't play akira too much anymore...

jerky: i don't think i'm ever going to forget the beating i took from you during first match of the tournament... unfortunatley you caught me red-handed trying to steal your green book in retaliation, haha... look forward to playing you at NYG4 /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

one piece of advice to my fellow jacky players, if you block double palm, or jeffry or sarahs knee, or jeffrys [4][3][P][P] for the love of all that is holy punish that with [3][P][P][P] + pounce... easy to do, good damage, and guar-UHN-teed...

adam yuki: one of the highlights of the weekend was you saying playing me jeffry on jeffry was one of the slowest matches you've ever had... i guess i'm on my way to becoming MACHI CHAMPION... anyway your jeffry is really strong.. i swear i'm going to escape throw down against you one of these days...

omaha jeff seems to be playing mostly akira now... his akira is really offensive, and strong too... if you tech roll chances are you are going to eat some more damage.. also thanks for showing us the way to the hotel we wouldn't have made it without you and hammerhead...

nelson (ghetto shun) knows vanessa really well and if you make a mistake you can wind up missing a huge chunk of energy to one of her combos or 270 throws... also watch the special high kick /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif...

ohio guys, you are really hardcore for driving 14+ hours to be there this weekend.. goldens vs ohio 1 was probably one of the best (or at least closest) matches in the whole tournament... it was really nice meeting all of you and hope to see you guys again in september!

st louis crew: didn't get to play against you guys until the tournament, shou played sarah who did well in flamingo stance and elbow, delayed knee... and (not so) scrublau - thanks for the strong lau experience...

akira zero: good to see you show up at the end... your lei fei got keept on getting faster throughout the event... thanks again for the ride back!

hammerhead: thanks for showing us the way to get to the hotel via train... we never would have made it without you /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif we had some fun stick vs pad, akira vs akira matches at the end...

and to namflow: thanks for saving the team more than once during the tournament /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif if you start losing, just make sure to keep people in your box...

guess that's it for now

Blondie Report: 1 of 2

We got there on Thursday night at LGA along with Srider and Flood and awaited Jerky and Shang to pick us up from the airport and take us to Riverhead. Riverhead is the place where it all went down. A Motor Inn hotel/motel with a rocking meeting room/basement that housed the eastern US’s best players. I think that it was the best representation of VF skill that NA has gotten together at once since I’ve been playing the game. The teams were teams of two, which worked out well considering each area had right at two players with the exception of Ryan who got paired with mark(hammerhead). Honestly from the get go I thought Ryan was going to take it away from all of us by himself. Happily we all started on Friday night with ritualistic playing til our eyes were glowing red with tiredness. The tourney was extremely good for all the players to experience the variety in game styles and characters. I’m sure EVERYONE that attended the tourney left with something they needed to work on, including Ryan. All the teams were strong and had the potential to take anyone out at any given time. I enjoyed myself a lot and my thanx goes to Adam for his hospitality once again. Good games to all and I hope to see you again soon.

Kazu- I had a lot of fun learning and playing against your lau. I haven’t gotten a chance to see lau in supreme form before and your definitely worthy of your title =).

Ad’s- Good games again this year, your offense has started to blossom a little more. And your Jeffrey was spot on in the tourney.

Hammerhead- Your game has gotten much better since the last time I saw you and you had the ultimate teammate to show you some tricks. Good games. =)

Ryan- I am glad to have met you, your play style is the most aggressive I’ve seen and your execution is nothing to meddle with. I am glad you came to this tournament to give most of the players here a taste of extreme high level play. If you’re ever thinking of coming to states again be sure to stop in Florida. You’ve given me things to work on with my game and potentially take it to the next level =). Your words of wisdom were gobbled up =).

Nelson- Your Vanessa is why I need to study Vanessa more, extremely affective flow charts and excellent showing all around.

Rodney- Rodney gets my vote for most improved player. After watching the vids that Andy had put up they seemed to have depicted Rodney as being a very tame Akira. I quickly found out that I shouldn’t take him too lightly as he had me sweating every time we got to play. Good games dog!

Goldens- You guys showed up and played very well. I’ll be totally honest in telling you that your play style makes me a little upset, but I think that is all part of your game plan =). Good games guys!

As for now that is all, I’m tired and hungry and I have to go work on some shit that I’ve taken from this gathering. Til tomorrow guys. HOTNESS!!

It was nice meeting you all at the gathering. It was a

blast.

The gathering was well organized and ready.(thank

you Adam and NewYork crew), and the tourney was a

real fun deal thanks to Llanfair and all the participants.

I wish we had an arcade which is equally and easily

acceccible for everyone that all of us can go play

virtuafighter together not once a year but every single

day. (a wishful thought, but that is a real situation for

our oriental counterparts.)

I will write another post with thoughts on everybody.

Well first let me say that this is the first tourney I've ever participated in where I DIDN'T want to take a break from the game played afterwards, in fact I want to play now even more than before!

I would sit here and complain about the RRs being too long, but the great brackets that came of them pretty much made up for it. That entire section of the tournament was pretty harsh for Jimmy and I, as his stick stopped responding that day, and we were both pretty tired, especially me (I was dozing off between our matches towards the end). If it weren't for the fact that I was sitting behind Shang (thanks man /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) I don't think I would've been awake for our last 2-3 matches.

That night we all got a lot more sleep than the last, and somehow Jimmy's stick started working again just before the tournament (and promptly gave out again after the tourney, coencidence?). So somehow eveything worked out.

Shoutouts -

Supergolden/Namflow - Man I had sooo much fun during our match with you guys, I haven't had a VF match that fun in a long time, SERIOUS!

IMF - Your movement is amazing, with crazy k-steps, g-cancel steps and shit, I could barely keep up! I had no idea it was possible to k-step that quick. Your elbow/jumonji flowcharts are also sick, I totally forgot about the CH f+K combos, nice! Oh and about that one TFT-->down attack - STOP STEALING MY COMBOS!!! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Blondie - WTF?! What do you think this is? Throw Escape: The Game (TM)? You were hacking, I know it! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif You are an amazing player, and I regret I didn't play you and IMF in freeplay. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Adam - Thanks for facilitating the tournament - nice projectors, plenty of space, great environment, awesome job, man. And mad props for taking Jeff to the top, not an easy thing to do! ph34r teh Adam Special (TM)! [P],[2]+[P],[P],[2]+[P],[P],[2]+[P] AHHHHHH! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rodney - You are teh SERIOUS, yeh! It's clear that you work really hard to be as good as you are, and it was great to talk about the VF community with you. And thanks for getting the crowd pumped during the OH matches, too much fun! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kazu - Woah, dude, you've got a crazy poke-rushdown Lau, man! I beat you like once in freeplay, and after seeing how you played in the tourney, thanks for letting me win!

Ryan - Man I got like one match out of like seven in freeplay against your akira, but I couldn't even come close to touching your kage, I can see I have a long way to go.....STOP SHAKING THE TABLE WHEN YOU STRUGGLE I MISSED MY COMBO YOU BASTERD! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Llanfair - I was going to punch you in the face for the RRs but I was too tired, so consider yourself lucky! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif j/k I think we may fly next time, we definitely didn't play our best during the RRs because of lack of sleep but like I said, the brackets were well worth it, and now I'm glad you set them up the way you did. You're a really cool guy and I'm glad I got the chance to meet you.

Akira Zero - Rawk those pelican's man! Serious!

Jerky - Hey, no one blames you for getting frustrated, and you may not realize this, but it shows that you care about the way you play! Plus it'll make a good outtake for the DVD. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Don't sweat it, man.

Shang - TEH FRANK!!!11!!!!!1! S-E-R-I-O-U-S!!!1!!!! Oh, and thanks for waking me up. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

That's all for now, cause don't feel like typing any more I want to play more VF.

Special thanks to Adam's dad and his friend for showing us an alternate (and much faster) route back to Ohio, and IMF/Blondie for letting us chill in their room until Adam showed up.

Stay serious guys!

This event was the first of a series of events called VFtopGUN.
Ryan Hart was the guest/teacher/rapist of honor.
I tried to get all the "strong" players under one roof.
NYG 4 (open to everyone) will still be held in September.
Thanks to everyone that attended. I love hosting you guys! These events always seem to end too quickly and i couldn't shake this sad feeling as the event drew to a close /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif Everyone that i played at NYG 3 had shown considerable improvement this time around - very impressive. I will not post an in-depth analysis of every player, as others can more articulately describe all the players' styles in detail. Here are some thoughts off the top of my head...

Ryan Hart : OMG. My outlook/thinking/approach towards the game has been altered forever. Amazing player. My first real-time glimpse of what a TOP TIER japanese player plays like. Insane reflexes and he thinks soooo quickly. If you are not totally alert, YOU WILL GET CARESSED AND PRESSED /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Florida Duo (Blonde-1 & IMFz0r): Already a force to be reckoned with at NYG 3, but they were even stronger at VFtopGUN. IMF played a helluva game against Ryan to knock the monster out of the tourney! I wish I had a chance to play in a more of a deathmatch setting against both of them, but alas, we all had "bigger" fish to fry *cough*RYAN*cough* /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

TO Crew (Llanfair & BMF): Llan's Pai is VERY good, but i wish we had played more! (Only got to play Owen 3-4 times) BMF's Akira is fairly strong from what i saw in gathering play, but likewise, I did not play against Patrick much (2 times maybe). I am indebted to Llan for organizing this DOPE-ASS tourney, and I enjoyed TO Crew's company immensely overall.

Golden x 2 (Supergolden & Namflow): WTF? I totally underestimated these two. Totally unconventional (yet very effective) style. You gotta be EXTREMELY patient and calm when facing these two. Namflow has some SICK Shun techniques - with a PAD to boot!! Super G's Jacky is also annoying like a mutha !@#$!. These two were known to take out the strongest players there...

Ohio (madagascar, dandy_J, KojiroSon, *forgot name of one more person*): Totally did not expect any of the players to be as good as they were. Jimmy's (madagascar) Akira is pretty sexy as is Dandy's Kage. Sean (KojiroSon) has a fukkin confusing (to me anyway) LeiFei! Totally unconventional style - "ITS ALL ABOUT THE BACK!!!!" /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif I forgot the name of the Aoi player, and I think i played him only once, so i can't really comment...

St. Louis (Shou & Jun/Sumeragi/Mike): Shou picked Sarah, surprisingly, and was pretty effective from what i saw. His Akira "business" is still tight like a mutha, tho. :p Sumeragi's Lau is improved since i played him last (a couple of months earlier). Someone has been studying Kazu's replays, I see! /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Boston (Shang & Jerky): Outside of the tourney, i don't think i played these two much at all. Jerky's jacky definitely looks tight compared to a couple of months ago, as is Shang's Wolf. I loved Shang's use of Wolf's uf+PG "DODGE THIS" throw! Jerky had some sick moments and i like the way he uses Jacky's lightning kicks.

Tennessee (Srider & Flood): I expected Srider to use Sarah but he predominantly used Lau. From what i saw of his Sarah, I think she is definitely his stronger character. But as the event went along, Srider's definitely started to show improvement with Lau. Flood's Vanessa is pretty dope. A different style from what i am used to (with Nelson's Vane), but definitely dangerous. Even Nelson said he learned a few things from his Vane!

NY Crew (Moi, Kazu, Mark, Nelson, Rodney/OmahaJeffry): I love you, my niggas. Stellar play from Nelson and Rodney all around. Nelson was very nervous during the tourney, as he was a TOURNEY VIRGIN before Saturday, but he had your moments of brilliance. I knew Rodney had improved before the tourney, but I saw blatant "leveling up" during the event - inspired no doubt, by Ryan's scary Akira. It pained me to see you miss key combos with Akira during the key match against FL, but I did not envy the fact that you had to take out both IMF & Blondie by your self - MUCH PRESSURE. Mark, I was very happy to see your Kage improve as a result of playing with Ryan. I saw that you got nervous very often, and feel that you should develop your "killer instinct" more.

KAZU (AZ YET): Ever since Hiro had to move to Amherst to study, we were all disappointed that we no longer had a sensei/mentor who can play with us on a regular basis. A couple of months ago, Andy calls me on my cell as says something like, "DOG!! There is this Japanese guy who is TEARING NIGGAZ' ASSES UP! You gotta come over right now to play him!" I dropped everything i was doing and went to Chinatown. He handed all of us our asses. He had been in NY for 1 year, but could not find any human opponents to play VF with, until he happen to stumble into Chinatown. He was as eager to join a group of die-hard VF players who can give him competition, as we were eager to annoint him as our "other sensei". We have been training with him religiously ever since we met him and will continue to do so for the forseeable future (he has to stay in NY for 3 years until he finishes school). He bailed me out at a key moment in the tourney, and I am so glad that his sick Lau is on our side! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla

I rambled above to demonstrate why i feel Kazu is considered a part of NY Crew. This is to pre-empt the HATERS who feel that he is "Japanese" and can't be considered a part of NY Crew (lol) - conveniently and indirectly delegitamizing NY's win at the tourney! /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Keep hatin'.....

Anyway, I had a blast! Please watch out for NYG4 in September, as there will be 2 special surprise guests /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif and a return visit from Ryan and some other UK players (if all goes well).

VFtopGUN2: The next VFTG will be even better. We promise the tourney will last only one day and would move a LOT QUICKER, so people have max play time. I understand that people traveled hundreds of miles to play and learn and not to wait around... But in order for the tourney to run quickly & efficiently (Round Robin/seeding on all 4 setups this time), it requires a commitment from all tourney participants.

Last member of the Ohio crew here. You know, played Aoi. Anyhow, just signed up for forums. This was my first real experience playing anyone with much skill outside of the other members of the Ohio crew. I'd have practiced up before everything if they hadn't told me that I was supposed to go with them 2 days before we left! Well, probably not as I had a bunch of school work to finish up as a condition to my being able to go.

I had a great time dispite being mostly winning impared. The fact that we'll now have people outside of just us 4 to play has inspired me to do the practice I so desprately need. Hopefully I'll be significantly better by the next time we get together.

With any luck I'll have lost track of total throw escape by next time. To the people who remember me (if you don't, that's ok, I've never heard of me either), you know what I'm talking about.

Hey all, guess I'll post my thoughts as well, although they'll pry mirror super's pretty well.

first off it was great to see flood and srider again. I had originally played them at the last Otakon and they said they were coming over from the tekken world. flood's vanessa got a ton better and I'm glad to see he's kept with the VF.

It was fun playing against jerky and shang from boston. I didn't remember jerky being so cool and funny to be around. I'm glad I got revenge on shang for him beating me at March Madness a while back. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif And we finally got to play you guys after hyun decided to not come up with shang ot visit.

Flordia: good games, as always. you both seemed to take it up a notch, of special note were watching the imf's kage on kage battles against ryan, which were really intense. And blondie, haha I don't think I ever intend to play being patient to the point of getting someone mad, but sometimes I could sense you were getting frustrated. If you didn't get frustrated I think you'd do a lot better... imf: now we're tied from Texas, gotta get a tie breaker in here!

Toronto: good seeing llany and imf again, even though llanfair insists on calling us from rochester even though we don't live there anymore! goldens x2, or perhaps team ocean city or something... good games by all, I still have nightmares about BMF's akira from the tourney up in toronto. And llanfair has some really good pai movements, like dashing away and then in for a FC throw. Plus he kept attacking at the beginning of the round when I'd try to backdash, which wasn't very nice at all. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif. But super and I won our lake ontario regional championship title back from toronto, so that's always a plus.

Got my ass kicked by both scrublau and kazu. Lau is like my ultimate weakness, I think I had maybe 1 win on scrublau and 1 on kazu the whole weekend.

Playing the nyc crew was fun. I had a lot of good games with nelson, including a few epic shun on shun and shun on vanessa series. Rodney's akira is really sweet with all those double palms and stun palms and everything else evil that goes with akira. Adam's jeffry is also really sweet, and patient. I'm glad I struggled out of his d/b+p+g throw into the wall followup of f+p,p at least once. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The ohio guys were also really good. The lei fei player was some good stuff, and my match with I think it was madagascar and the kage player in the tournament was intense, perhaps one of the closest battles of the tournament (at least for me.) Good stuff!

And of course Ryan was insane. Especially the last night we were up late and he was just showing off some akira combos on poor aoi or pai or some lightweight. And then he showed the quad-throw escape guard in challenge mode, which was insane. He's rediciously offensive and can get away with it. And I learned perhaps one of the most important things against him: don't tech roll, for the love of god don't tech roll! Eat the d/f+p or d/f+k and then stand back up, techrolling = death. Also, he wouldn't let me get away with taking free drinks after certain moves/combos.

all in all it was an awesome weekend. I hope I mentioned everyone but there were a lot of people there, ya know? highlights for me at least include my epic battles with nelson, interrupting far too many raising attacks with handstand kicks, as well as showing off perhaps the only l33t execution I have on the crouch dash into 270 throw, which everyone seemed to love (well, everyone but my opponet anyway). /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's about it, take it easy all

Yes I can't believe I forgot to mention Llanfair and BMF... First thanks to Llanfair for having the hard task of organizing the tournament and being the enforcer to you know, get people to play when they need to play...

As far as gameplay goes Llanfair's pai is really fast.. Didn't seem to get as many reversals as when the last time we met up at Toronto... He played very well in our first ironman match and took out team golden all by his lonesome...

BMF seemed to be more patient that Owen, and perhaps more patient since the last time we met... his execution with akira is near perfect...

good matches by all.. I'm kind of sad that we don't live in Rochester anymore so we won't be able to head up to Toronto and play games with you guys anymore, but what can you do... Will see you at the next gathering /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I thought I'd mention that you wouldn't need to put in a disclaimer about THE HATERS if your buddy andy didn't like to say stuff like

CrewNYC888: remember how I said the war was over
CrewNYC888: and NYC wins by default
CrewNYC888: and I went on and on about kazu
CrewNYC888: I guess I Prived my point
CrewNYC888: I said the first day he was a VERY good japanese player ranking a few ranks above 10th dan
CrewNYC888: and I was dismissed
CrewNYC888: as a NUT CASE
CrewNYC888: for saying just cause kazu was here we automatically win
CrewNYC888: problem is.....we won....

First to crew - I think people's reaction when you said "We have this hot new player!" wasn't "bullshit"... it was more like "whoopty shit".
It's like you were playing a pickup game of basketball and kobe bryant happened to drive by on his way to the store to buy a box of condoms... and he decided to join your pickup game for a little while. It's not like new york actively recruited and trained kazu.

From the sound of it, Ryan Hart was the micheal jordan of the event... since he's visiting new york for a period of more than one day, why don't you guys take credit for him too?

Bleah. I think your little disclaimer ruined a good post and put a confrontational spin on things that didn't need to be there. Nobody was gonna take anything away from new york's wins, but andy's got this stupid need to take responsibility for stuff he didn't accomplish at an event he didn't attend. Y'all are awfully defensive, in fact, I think YOU'RE the first person to admit that New Yorkers lucked into a japanese player. You wanna claim he's not japanese, that's fine... but he learned VF in japan, he got to his rank playing other japanese people, he's been here only a year, and after three more he'll be gone.

Congratulations on being new york native dudes, there are only 8.5 million others like you!

Huge thanks go to Adnan again for organizing/hosting another large gathering for the NAVF players and getting one of the legendary players to make the hop over the ocean. It was the first time I saw more than a few competent VF players in one area at the same time and quite frankly, we all need to get together more often. A special thanks goes to my team partner for putting up with me for so long. /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Team UK
Ryan Hart (Kage)

I've read about this guy for years in various Japanese gaming publications such as Gamest and Famitsu. To meet him and see the level of VF he has acheived was truly amazing. He plays so many characters at a high level and his yomi, reflexes and quick thinking are just mind boggling.

Team NYC
ghettoSHUN (Vanessa), Omaha Jeffry (Akira), AZ YET (Lau), adamYUKI (Jeffry), Hammerhead (Kage)

You guys have all improved much since I last visited a few months ago (well, except for maybe Kazu since he usually has the upperhand against me anyway /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif ). Rodney's Akira really surprised me with just how lethal it was (SDE MC everywhere). We'll get you and Nelson back next time. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif Good to see Adam return to his original VF4 character so we could get the deathmatches going. /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Team Toronto (or Team Tall Guys)
BMF (Akira), Llanfair (Pai)

I didn't get to play you two much outside of the tourney but as always a pleasure to meet Owen and good to see BMF for the first time. Next gathering, I'm certain we'll get matches in.

Team Boston
Shang (Wolf), Jerky (Jacky)

Even though we were all at NYG3, I didn't play either at all so I made it a point this time around to get some games in. I still think Shang should've yelled, "OWNED!", everytime he won.

Team Tennesee
flood (Vanessa), Srider (Lau)

Another team that I didn't play much outside the tournament but we did try to eat at the Chinese place. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Team Hydra
Blondie (Jacky), IMF (Kage)

Mission accomplished? We've all come a long way since those training days in January but what still gets me is IMF's patience. He could probably sip his water through an earthquake and not be shaken in the slightest. The dedication both of you have to the game is inspiriing.

Shou (Sarah), J_Chuang (Lau)

Just some scrubs here /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Team Goldens
Namflow (Shun), supergolden (Jacky)

To be honest, I didn't know what to expect from these two but they can hold their own. I think their fighting style is a bit annoying to fight against for people like me and Blondie. I've never fought a more annoying Shun, that's for certain.

Team Ohio
KojiroSon (Lei Fei), AviH20 (Aoi), madagascar (Akira), Dandy_J (Kage)

It's always surprising to see a new VF scene to appear in NA but to also attend a gathering so quickly is even more so. Hope to see you all at the next gathering.

We didn't "recruit and train" Kazu, but i am proud of anyone who trains with us religiously and develops a relationship with us that goes beyond VF. I don't get it. Its not very difficult. If a person lives in NYC, trains with NYC every week, and is staying in NYC for the forseeable future, then that person can be considered part of NY's Crew, right? People are really dense.

Damn Creed, u sound really bitter (?). /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif This Ryan comment is really stupid and you know it. Again, Ryan doesn't live in NYC, doesn't train with NYC every week, and isn't staying in NYC for the forseeable future. But Kazu does. Damn...i really feel silly having to spell this out for certain people so explicitly. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You are right. Andy shouldn't have said shit. He wasn't even there.

You'd be surprised at how defensive certain "other" crews are. We are certainly not anymore defensive.

So what? So did Hiro, and Hiro would be the first to consider himself a representitive of NY Crew at a Team Battle event such as VFtopGun. Come to think of it, Akapan was similar, no? I'm sure Bay Area VFers considered him part of their crew, cause, guess what? Right...he lived in Bay Area, trained with Bay Area Crew, and was staying in the Bay Area for however long...

Not really! There are only like 6-7 tight New York VF rapists. Definitely not 8.5 million... So you can understand our intense pride! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
