Hey guys, Super here in NYC checking in... Dont' have much time, but I'll say what I can:

-Kyasao, Shinjiku Jacky, Shu and Kazu's friend (who uses Aoi) are here...

-Three guys from famitsu are here... From what I could tell, sub chief editor, DVD producer, and one other guy... they brought a bunch of AV equipment...

-Shou and I are so far the only two non NYC US guys here...

Now onto gameplay impressions so far...

Kyasao is ridiculously fast... he flows very well... he is really fast with k g cancel throws.... stuff like, I know not to sidekick into Jumanji, though I wound up doing it twice (into counter) in one match against him... He's been beaten maybe two or three times so far...

-Shinjiku Jacky only played a little bit from what I saw... Really strong, he would throw out Jacky moves that you wouldn't expect at certain times, usually successful... he tooled me Jacky vs Jacky hard...

-Shu played for a while last night... He had a good streak going on last night.... somewhat flashy with shun, again he'll throw out stuff at times when you arn't expecting it and boom hit throw or something...

I didn't get to see Kazu's friend play all too much, but he did really well... can't give too much commentary on Aoi gameplay though...

    Will write more later,

    -Alex

Hey guys, update on the NYC action here this weekend. Here is my impression of the japanese guys.

I played Shinjuku Jacky, Kyasao, Kazu, and one of the editors from famitsu who plays sarah.

    Here is how I fared
Shinjuku Jacky vs Srider - Srider wins
Kyasao vs Srider - Kyasao wins
Kazu vs Srider - Srider wins
Famitsu Sarah vs Srider - Famitsu Sarah wins

I will have to say that me beating shinjuku jacky could just be because he was pretty drunk. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
We were joking that he was called "DrunkJuku Jacky" that night. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I will have to say that all of them are highly skilled players. While shinjuku jacky played a fairly conservative and careful game, other players like kyasao and the sarah play exploited advantaged situations and minor disadvantaged situations. You really just have to make your guess and apply flowcharts and really have to mix things up to stand a chance against them. I'm sure if I played each of them more they will probably be up on me. It's highly competitive with high level play from everyone here. I'll try to take some pictures and post them when I get a chance.

Will be back with more details when I have time. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

    lol srider.

I swear I'm not trying to start a flame but are you saying you went out of your way to post that you beat each of these players *once*? Just asking! If you mean you like won the most games over 30 matches with any of 'em I'd be like... woh@!!!dag!

PS: something quick and easy you could answer that I've wondered, if kyasao busting out his jeffry, do he and shu stick to kage and shun all the time or what?

Kyasao has played a little bit of Lion from the brief time I've seen him play.

Shu played Goh at least once that I've seen as well.

    Sounds like everyone had fun.

Why was it teambattle when no other area outside NY brought a 3 man team to the event?

    Re: Team tourney results 9/13/03

My guess is because Famitsu was covering it, they had a 3 man team format which is standard in Japan. SHU taped all the matches on direct feed and also captured the audience for their reactions. Lupin, an editor from Famitsu was the announcer. He plans to make a spread of the event on his magazine as well as produce it on DVD for the 10 year VF anniversary.

Sounds like everyone had a great time. Its a shame most of the Florida players were banned from this. No hard feelings NY. See you guys at FSB.
