Fellow Virtua Fighters, we have reached an end of an era.

Some of us have been playing VF4 when it debuted at arcades in '01, some got our first glance when it came out for the PS2 in '02. It got even better when Sega released VF4:Evolution in '03. Sega surprised us even more with VF4:Final Tuned in '04.

As VF4 has been brought into existence we have enjoyed the many revisions the game has turned into and created long lasting friendships and memories along with it. It is amazing that this game still entices a few who are just learning of this masterpiece on each new day.

But VF4 is reaching its last days. As we all know VF5 awaits us within months and there will probably be no turning back. Let us all give VF4 a fond farewell.

NYCVF would like all VF'ers to help celebrate the wonder that VF4 has given us. We want to remember VF4 with a big gathering that will be like no other VF event ever before. We haven't had a gathering for over 2 years now and we hope to make up for it to all the VF players abroad.

Festivities will start on Friday, November 17, 2006 as we'll have plenty of FT and Evo setups at hand to play till your hearts content (or sleep deprived brain, take your pick /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) We'll end the soiree with the first national VF4:FT tournament in NA on Saturday, November 18th.

Save these dates for the sendoff! November 17 & 18th 2006.

More details and media will follow soon! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Please post your interest on attending this event on this thread so we can better accomodate everyone. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We hope to have someone pick you up, although that might prove to be a bit difficult, as none of us have easy access to cars. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

However, you can take a train from the airport right into Manhattan's Penn Station. The cost (one-way) is anywhere from $10-$15 and takes about 45 minutes. Some info from http://macarthurairport.com/pages/4transportation.shtml :

    To NYC by Train
There is shuttle service from MacArthur Airport to the nearby Ronkonkoma train station:
Colonial Transportation of Long Island offers convenient shuttle service between MacArthur Airport and the Ronkonkoma train station (LIRR). The shuttle van departs the train station daily at 5:30am, then departs the airport on the hour and half-hour from 6:00am until 10:30pm. Curbside pick up at the airport is directly in front of baggage claim. The shuttle will pick up and drop off at the North Platform of the Ronkonkoma train station. The one-way fare is $5.00 per person. Cash and credit cards are accepted. All rates are subject to change without notice. The Suffolk County Bus Transit also offers hourly service to and from MacArthur Airport to the train station with the S-57 Bus except Sundays and(No service, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas). The fare is $1.50.The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) offers frequent service to Penn Station in Manhattan from the Ronkonkoma train station The train ride is approximately one hour and 25 minutes. The train fare currently $6.50 (non-rush hour times) into the city will take you to Penn station which is located in Manhattan at 33rd street and 7th Avenue. From there you can get to your ultimate destination by subway or by taxi.

I imagine flying into MacArthur Airport would be cheapest, as opposed to JFK or LaGuardia (which are most convenient).

We will have 2 FT setups of our own (super-gunned & VS City cabinet), and Tim was kind enough to offer us his setup for the original event in August, so we hope his offer still stands. If that works, then BAM! - 3 hawt setups for the tourney! (With card-reader support.) /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This is for all the ppl who are making the effort of coming to NYC. Just book your ticket to JFK or LaGuardia. Flying into MacArthur Airport for the price difference would make your life a lot harder & time consuming & the LIRR isn't something you would want to rely on. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I would image that if any of the NYC peeps who are free when your plane is coming in wouldn't mind meeting whoever is making the big effort of coming to this. YES SOMEONE ANYONE FROM NYC SHOULD TRY TO MEET THE PPL WHO ARE VISITING US FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!

I wouldnt mind meeting them since I dont live too far from the airports. I can easliy take some vfers to the destnation and IF im lucky I can prob get them a ride as well if not then we can subway it together
