Early in September 2002, NYG3, the 3rd annual New York Gathering, took place.

If you missed out on the event, or simply would like to refresh your memory, then check out the Reports and Thankyous found in the Jamboree board.

CrewNYC has put together a movie preview of what should be a sample of the upcoming DVD. It's a large download, weighing in at a hefty 45.9 mb, but well worth a look! Containing brief player interviews and some good matches, you can catch a glimpse of what you missed out on, or relive it all again.

Download >> nyg3movie.zip

The movie will only be available here for a short while. After it is taken down, it will be available via the fserves on EFNet #vfhome.

well i suspect u are from france, but any time u are around london, dynamic-league is a great place to go for gatherings, some of the finest competition go there.

top names are:

- ryan heart
- prince hatim
- UK-guy
- Odo
- The_Wall
- VOSOR

etc, ice-9 appeared at our last one, check out dynamic league's website : here

I can't take any credit for the clip at all. Like I mentioned in the original post, it was put together by CrewNYC. As for the setup, again, it had nothing to do with me. Thanks must really go to the NY guys, in particular, Adam and Andy, for organising and hosting NYG3. I only wish I was there! Maybe next time...

This just goes to prove how useless video can be when deconstructing play or play habits. The Wolf in question is Hiro (unless I'm wrong and someone can correct me) and by all accounts he is super strong. In fact, most people claim that they feel he toys with them more than he fights them. Guess there's little challenge.

Yes.

The wolf player in this clip is indeed hiro, and I'm pretty sure he could spank barenuckle, and maybe anyone else in the UK.
That particular match was a very good one for imf's akira, but I think hiro won more of those than he lost. Also, you can see good evidence of brains and reflexes even though he played a very safe, conservative way for that match - notice he blocks akira's df+P+K's on reflex, and at one point successfully dodges one towards akira's back and tries for a low side throw (which turned into the crappy dodge-throw instead, which is more an oversight by sega than a screwup by hiro). The use of the frankensteiner to catch imf's dodge for a potential ring out was also quite nice, as imf does lots of E DTE.

Hey, this reminds me of a post I made earlier about that korean vanessa player gudamy. This is a good opportunity to mention that was a dumb post /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Good vid. But the Jacky and Lion players at the end both seem to be unfamilar with how to play against the other character. Like Jacky is getting destroyed against Lion at the beginning because Lion was on the offense, and was basically controlling the match because Jacky just couldn't figure out where to block. Then the opposite happens and Lion is on defense and Jacky is on major offense, and this time it's Lion who doesn't seem to know how to play against a very offensive Jacky.

I only say this because my main game is Lion against my brothers Jacky, and that's just what I gathered watching that vid. But I know watching one match doesn't really give you insight on how well guys play, and what their experience is against other characters, so I wouldn't be suprised if what I wrote is totally off about the two guys playing.

I would of gone, but money was tight at the time. Maybe next time. Or if anyone's ever in CO, look me up.

ok, so i did'nt know it was hiro, and i know he's a good player with wolf, but compared to the fast action of the other matches, well... ya know (i hope).

but still i'll apologize, but hey, it's one match out of probably millions, i mean, i don't exactly like my own clips on dynamic-league coz i played slow and defensive. the wolf match i agree was smart play, just nothing flashy, that's all.. forgive me?

Lol! That Clip is so great! Knowing some of those people in person makes it that much better!

Jedi Fei: "I'm a badass.. I just wanted everyone to know that."

Blonde_one: "It was too easy. Im a badass!"

IMF: "Blonde_one's gonna' win the tournament for sure."

LMAO! The funny thing about what IMF said is that -HE DID-.

props to the setup by the NY crew, and mad props to the Vid. Good shit guys.

Loved the clip. Impressive play all around. I particularly like ghostdog's Aoi in that one match against a Lion player. Good stuff.

Yeah I know, the VF community is certainly biger in UK, it's a shame people don't play VF as much as SC in France.
I already had the chance to play against the "prodigal son " Ryan and he kicked my ass like he did with all the other french players who were there./versus/images/icons/crazy.gif
Hoppefully I think my level (and also the global level in Françe) has raised since.

The following is perhaps a little bit off-topic but anyway I heard there is a big gathering in december in London (around the 15th) and some top SC,3.3 , and CvS2 players are coming to london with the CTPL (the french equivalent for Dynamic League).
I wih I could go there and I'm looking for someone who could host me, Anyone here? /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

Forgive my poor english.

meh, i wan't my revenge on that guy anywayz since i got whipped in ver.B where wolf's crumple game is non-existent /versus/images/icons/mad.gif

anywayz, any info for DL gatherings should be on their website, if you want to find out more, just sign up to the forum as they discuss each gathering there also, the's even a "UK vs FRANCE" torunery or some crap like that floating around in the announcements, check it out and see..

btw, i apologise for the OT guyz...

Ok, maybe this has been mentioned before, but I ran across a new foreign site recently (I think it's dutch or something). Anyway, they have a ton of matches (Ver.C and Evo), most of which we've seen before. However, the surprising thing about the site is the new NYG3 footage featuring some great matches between Omaha Jeffry and Adam Yuki, plus a few others. http://oguo.campus.luth.se/filmer/VS/blandat/nyg3.WMV

hey dre
there are two nyg movies.... the one you stumbled across actually was posted a while ago as a preview/teaser to nyg3... no people or commentary, just matches. All of it happened before the actual gathering.

The gameplay on it is better than the best stuff on nyg3movie.wmv, though, and it's very much worth a download.

PS: whoever runs the site is familiar sounding... and they're definitely on VFDC... they've downloaded some stuff from my movie-o-the-week thingy recently. Maybe Lau?

I assumed it must have been mentioned before. Those are some excellent matches. I heard Omaha's Jeff was good, but I didn't realize he was THAT good. BTW, Was that Hiro playing Wolf? Much more impressive than on nyg3movie.wmv.
