Occupation?

Hey I'm somewhat curious about the occupations of the members of this board, just to see what kind of people enjoy (and have time) for virtua fighter with their jobs.

So just share your:
1.) Job
2.) Possible future job (if you are working your way up or are getting educated)
3.) Past jobs (both horrible and good)

Anyhow, I work as a machinist right now doing modifications on magnetic and electronic components for power supplies, aerospace, military, and consumer electronics.

I'm currently going to school to become an Electrical Engineer which at the moment includes getting owned in physics, vector calculus, and other subjects. In between school time I try to find a place for VF time.

Hopefully I want to work for a company in power electronics to get some experience and then maybe start my own company.

My current job is my first job though I guess you could say I do a little bit of ebay/online sales if that counts.

So what about you guys?

Ive been a Student in Art & Design since leaving school, ATM Ive done 7 years in higher education lol.
currently studying for a degree in Illustration, hoping to go on to do whatever pays, hopefully freelance

Ive had a mix of other jobs, painting and decorating, TV camera assistant, shop cleaner and a care assistant for a kids play and party venue (shudder)

 

Studied English... twice. Quit... twice.
Studied phusics... once. Quit.
I guess I was looking for my place at the university. Gonna finish the bloody English anyway. Gotta get my shit together first

I've worked in several places. Couldn't settle in one job, especially with how it is these days in Poland.

I started by working in a fruit and vegetables shop...
It was in Ireland, near Dublin. Dun Laoghaire was the place. I loved the job, but had to go back to Poland with my gf, didn't want to part ways with her. Never regreted
The shop was... ummm... Mastersons' Fruit & Veg. Know it?

Anyway. After coming back to Poland I couldn't find a job for 5 months. Then I started working in SMYK, a large store with toys and clothes for kids, age <15.
That didn't work out well. Instead of working together to keep the good enviroment, the staff was always competing, although there was nothing to win, no bonuses for "best salesman" or whatever. So I quit.

Shortly after that I found a job in H&M warehouse, where I was working happily, until I decided to "next door". They were opening a warehouse nearby. Trade Furnitute Solutions was the company's name. They paid a lot, the job was 9am to 5pm, and all I had to do was... drive a forklift. It was a dream job, but the company went bankrupt

I couldn't find my own place after that and they wouldn't let me go back to H&M, so I went to and advisor, who after some personality tests, decided that a phone(call center)/administration/office job would be best suited for me.

Started working in Invest Bank last winter. The pay was SHIT! and I mean SHIT! The hours were random and the job pretty much sucked... so what do you think? I quit.
Went to work in a call center for a digital TV company (Cyfrowy Polsat), but they refused to give me an agreement for a longer period of time than one month. They would just renew the contract every month. Also, no health insurance is paid when you have that kind of agreement, so I knew I wouldn't stay there for long.
However, I was incredibly surprised, when on a friday afternoon, 2 hours before leaving work, the manager asked us all (almost 300 people) to a meeting. He simply announced that more than 170 of us... won't be needing to come there next day. (it was last day of the month)
Yep, more than 170 people were fired, just like that. I was among them of course.
That was the end of August, and except for a few small jobs to keep the cash flowing, I haven't been in a real workplace since then.

That's the story... shouldn't have asked

my job is assemblying and cutting small electronic connectors. i want more money but feel hesitant about asking. i work a$$ off for 2 years there and im still temp. something seems unfair and it makes me wanna quit

I'm a clinical psychology researcher for the Veterans Hospital.

previously I was a student getting my B.S. and in about a year I'll be going to get my PhD. in Clinical Psychology.

I am a massage therapist. (been practicing since 1996)
I am also an acupuncture physician (been practicing since 2001)

I would like to get into stocks and forex trading. But perhaps in the future.

 

Currently: Outside Sales for Industrial Hardware & Tools.

I'd like to maybe do personal training someday, but its probably not worth the headache. Plus i love going to the gym everyday, would hate to turn it into work and no longer enjoy it.

Long-term goal: I'd like to appear in Muscle & Fitness or even Men's Health someday! (lying of course, telling everyone how doing 10 mins a day of these "secret exercises" is all you need. When really i'm beasting up for 1-2 hours a day, lol.)

Realistically, future occupation: Outside sales. Plan 2 knock it out for 2-3 years up here, and then move back to lower 48 into a field of sales with much higher earnings potential.

 

Story integrator for Ubisoft until, well today where I joined a new team (still at ubisoft) as technical director for story integration.

 

Unemployed.

 

I work! I get the job done.

 

Information Systems Technician for the Navy (comms, networking, Unix[HPUX, SCO], Cisco, etc... I also make beats, and do graphic arts on the side... Currently trying to finish my degree in Computer Science (and possibly something else but what??), and still making some attempt to study Japanese, French and Spanish on the side (kinda stopped speaking Spanish in '03 so I'm trying to get back in the groove...)
