Official Launch Event for Virtua Fighter 5 in USA

Sega and Sony will be hosting the official launch event for Virtua Fighter 5 on February 20th featuring a tournament to win a copy of VF5 signed by the development team. There will be other prizes and freebies, so definitely show up if you are in the area.

This is a sad joke, another launch "tournament". What is the point of having a tournament on launch day when no one knows how to play the game? Good job Sega on another hyped event without substance. Have fun mashing on pads at the Sega store with a bunch of sony fanboys people. Lame.

i think its more of a lighthearted for fun tourney to promote a new game and give away promotional items than a serious super battle opera #1 godfist king of counting frames crouch canceling yomi nerdlington fest.

Shang stop bitching and being a WANG. Anybody who can play VF4 competantly can kick ass on VF5.

I have from day one, got it monday. And I brought it over to a friends who has VF4 evo ,and he had no problem beating me several times right off the bat. If youre good with Goh in VF4 evo, Youll be GREAT WITH GOH now. Hes twice as fast now. This game smokes all the animations are more fluid, and it even animates when you smack into the wall after someone hits you with a powerful hit.

I highly recommend you take him up on the offer. NYC Regulars are top-notch in the skill and social department. I'd be really suprised if you had a bad experience with them.

I'd love to attend this, but Sega forgets that people have school and jobs to go to.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate their effort, but moving this event to a weekend would have been much smarter. It's true that the launch date momentum is important, but if most people can't attend due to other obligations, it's a bit sad.

Edit: I'll be going as soon as I'm able.

Yeah it looks like I won't be able to make the event until 4 pm earliest. Hopefully it's still in time for the tournament.

It would be awesome if someone could cap this event (with a handheld or something), would make a nice memory later on and hey - ppl in it might be drawn to the site if there's a vid of them looking silly on it.

just wanted to say it was cool meeting everyone i met out there and big ups to renzokuken for taking the title.

also thanks to sega and the ps store for hosting the event. my vf5 backpack holds an hrap perfectly and the god of war demo is pretty damn nice. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

but eff a pad tourney where you have to play default.
