This thread is for anyone who is interested in this genre of music. Feel free to post anything you want about it.

I'll start off. I just picked up Sasha's new CD, Airdrawndagger. I listened to it all night at work, and I must say it's some of the best straight trance I've ever heard. It flows very nicely. The first 3 tracks set the mood perfectly. 4 and 5 build straight to the meaty beats of 6, 7, and 8. The coolest part is it doesn't end like most mixes do. The last 3 tracks form sort of an epilogue. Trust me, it works extremely well. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who is even remotely interested in trance. CD's like this are what it's all about. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm not too familiar with specific sub-genre names. You'll have to describe it to me or name a DJ. Stomp told me he sees you at Icon once in a while. Were you there when Satoshi Tommie spun? Definately some solid stuff.

No I dont think Gaishou was at Satoshi tommie. He doesn't like progressive house as much as the style that he spins. The stuff he was referring to is more harder, and more "industrial" That's how I would describe it. Rabbit in the moon, chemical brothers are just a small example.

Hey Dude, did you like the nick warren cds ? which one do you like better? let me know what you want me to burn for you when you come on friday.

Stomp - I don't remember any Rabbit in the Moon, but it sounds familiar. I've heard a few Chemical Brothers tracks and found them all annoying. So, sorry Gaishou, I don't think I'm into that style. But, feel free to enlighten me. Let me know of an exceptional example of that sub-genre and I'll probably buy it. I'll try anything once.

The Nick Warren you gave me sounds pretty good. I still need to sit down and listen to it. Sometimes that takes a while. Airdrawndagger just had this quality that made me listen to it as soon as possible. Took me two weeks before I sat down and listened to Digweed's MMII. I just couldn't get into it. But now it's like in my top 5 all time CD's. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    -edit-
Chingdude, no offense, but definately not my kind of music. Is that supposed to be music? Seriously. Is it? /versus/images/icons/confused.gif

Yeah, that's cool. I recently picked up the new anthony Pappa REsolutions cd. I was highly dissapointed. The music was kinda dull and the beats were all boring. Mixing was not too smooth.

Hey, Dude, do you have a recording thing where we can record some paul oakenfold live from the radio and then convert it to a cd from your computer? If so, we need to start doing that stuff. Lately, the sets have been awesome.

/versus/images/icons/ooo.gif dude, that is ok, but i thought most would see this stuff as more mainstream! /versus/images/icons/smile.gif!~

    dude and stomp,

eh, i wouldnt put chem bros in that sub genre. here a few artists i listen to often.

    terry francis
    terry lee brown
    dj three
    eddie richards

its also hard for me to say what djs because the vinyl ive bought isnt consistently put out by the same people as i'm sure you know. but those are a few of my favs, terry francis and three being the top ones. stomp somewhat described it, but its just as the name says, its house that borrows lots of "techno" elements/sounds. bit harder, some darker tripped out stuff. thing is that sometimes it is but sometimes it isnt, depends on the artist as i'm sure you know. unfortunately i didnt get to see lee burridge play, as hes a prog dj i probably wouldnt mind hearing. as for rabbit. theres a few tracks of theirs on sasha and digweed cds. out of body experience i think........as for chingdudes ambient stuff, i liked, some of it, probably because i didnt listen to all of it. i have to admit its hard to accept as music at first, but more like noise, but i can like it anyways.... /versus/images/icons/smirk.gif

yeah, sorry about the wrong reference. But I totally forgot what you liked. So yeah, thanks for clearing that info up. yeah, it's a lot harder than most of the progessive stuff. Rabbit does some softer remixes as well. It just depends on thier mood. Hey, Gaishou, you are not into break beat?

Gaishou - That's where I heard Rabbit in the Moon before, I knew it sounded familiar.

Stomp - What would we need to be able to record and convert shit from the radio? I haven't listened to Oakey's Sun. sets in like 3 weeks. /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

Rabbit in the Moon -- oh, the memories, and BAD ONES! They came to Austin when I lived there fora show, that was in an abandoned K-Mart. They only let the first 300 people in, b/c anymore would break the fire code. Of course, as most fucked parties in Austin turned out, you didn't get your money back either.

For a good year or two, the scene in Tokyo was fantastic. You can hear any genre you want, and loads of kewl party people. Now, like most scenes turn out, it's crap, with lots of children showing up, and the music turning into shit gay trance. Any music that makes you want to hold hands should not be played at an event.

Record stores still get good stuff.

Oh, yeah -- jeers to whomever posted Satoshi Tomie in this thread. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

That's funny as hell Gaijin punch. Hey, I remember going to some clubs in Taiwan. It was so funny because they fit the stereotypical asians that go to clubs all the time. They stand there and look pissed and hard all night long. So naturally it's hard to meet any asians at clubs because I go there to dance and talk to people and have a good time. anyways, it was funny as hell to have an american girl come up to me and try to speak in broken chinese saying hi. So I naturally waited and then said something in english. I don't have an accent when I speak english. so that was funny. anyways, I am rambling.

yea i can get into breaks, but it cannot come orlando......i am over funky breaks. i love dark intelligent sounding music. as for the ritm doing 'softer' stuff, eh, theres been some, more tripped out weird stuff, but he has done some solo stuff as lunasol, which is just ambient. awesome stuff imo. better than his ritm stuff.

Yeh well around here in detroit we get lots of guys commin up to spin around here. Boo Williams is a chicago house man. Its really jazzy house. Lots of trumpets, pianos and black singers. THE best to chill too.
But when Im feelin hardcore. Or I just gonna get my LP on I usually bust out the Diesel Boy. Im not really a big fan of trance anymore.
