    Poll of the Day:
Which upcoming fighting game are you most looking forward to?

    Capcom vs. SNK 2 18.63% 253
    Dead or Alive 3 8.76% 119
    King of Fighters 2001 5.38% 73
    Mortal Kombat 5 6.41% 87
Super Smash Bros. Melee 29.53% 401
    Tekken 4 14.73% 200
    Virtua Fighter 4 4.42% 60
    None of them 12.15% 165
    TOTAL VOTES 1358

Urgh, not only is VF4 in the last place, but Smash Brothers Melee and Crap Kombat 5 are ahead!
Tekken and C vs S 2 ahead is understandable, since both Tekken and Capcom have big fan followings, but SBM on top?! What's the world coming to? (Possible explanation: Pokémaniacs, it's the only "Fighter" to use this term loosely with Pikachu and Jigglysomething).
And Mortal Kombat? 1 was crap, 2 and 3 I never played, Gold looks crap ang got slammed by EVERY reviewer. How can people be looking forward to 5?

Oh wow, I cant believe that there is a strong fan base for Smash Brothers sequel. The game is very shallow and boring. If the game ran with a in depth game engine it might carry my interests, but since it isn't in depth then all I can say is "Smash brother what?"

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised at the polls. This is gamefaqs. The general voting public are little kids so of course they'll pick that choice. The shallower the game, the higher the vote count. It's all about simple stuff thats very accessible to kids. In fact, to tell the truth, Super Smash Brothers isn't even in the same category as most of the fighters. It's a fancy VS beat-em-up, not a fighter. It's exactly like taking something like Streets of Rage, but allowing people to hit each other. They might as well have put in Powerstone 3 or something, in the mix. At least that falls in the same category with Super Smash Brothers.
I've pretty much ignored the gamefaqs vote booths as they've consistantly been voting booths of the ignorant, or toddlers to the gaming industry. Trust me. If you make a game in which hitting someone full force simply involves nothing but collision detection with any part of the character graphic, and advertising it like the dickins, you'll have a winner on gamefaqs voting booth. Kids will say its the best fighting game of all time. They'll ignore the rest. If you try to tell them that they aren't really fighting games, just beat-em-ups, it'll fall on deaf ears. They wouldn't understand the difference, anyway, but pretend they know it all. What they don't know is not worth knowing, is the mentality. The more they have to think, the less they are interested in it. It's never been about anything else.

I guess the only somewhat surprising one would be the Capcom vs SNK2. It could be either because of advertising or that the new stuff added to improve the game from the first, excited enough of the Capcom and SNK fanbase to try to push the vote count up. I don't think I even voted as I really do ignore their polls, most of the time.
