I can understand if you're a big fan of videogames, but this is taking it WAAAAAY too far.

 

..this brings back memories....OK, OK I was playing MK2 yesterday.....nice one.......

 

This first thing is not that wierd. Boffer weapon fantasy combat is a very popular event all over north america. Thats what that was. Here in Florida we have a company called Clans of Ragnarok, they run a game in apopka. The largest game in North america is NERO, which stands for New England Roleplaying Organization. They also have boffer weapon games in europe.

Actually, I think the MK ones are just meant for some laughs /versus/images/icons/smile.gif. The Role playing one though was just wierd! I wonder if they also sometimes take turns like in turn-based RPGs ! /versus/images/icons/grin.gif Is that girl closest to the camera a referree or something?

The Ultima one was a little disturbing, however. The "actors" were pretty serious about the whole thing.

 

I like how one of them is like "die!!" as he's slashing the other dudes butt cheek.

 

I agree that the MK clips were made just for laughs. The Ultima Online clip however, is just plain disturbing. People really act out this ultima online stuff in real life?!!......the world is coming to an end. You should make fun of them cause they do what is fun for them. Some people thing playing video games at a competative level is weird. Plus, I play boffer weapon combat games, and anyone who has met me would not have known. Its not weird just cause you dont do it. Only weird thing on earth is spam!!!!

It's true, you'd never have guessed. Still, you can't help laughing at the movie, the same way you can't help laughing at anime convention photos. It's not ALL meanspirited. Only like 68%.

see, I didn't consider it a troll post. trolling, in my opinion, is where you say something you *know* is going to get a rise out of someone. Who'da guessed.

And anyway, it looks funny and odd; to an outsider it is. In much the same way my friend Shroud has two different stories he tells to friends about how he and I met depending on how familiar they are with game culture and I understand that: not everyone is going to "get it". To most, spending hours in an arcade or hunched over joysticks is weird and bordering on juvenile.
