I'd like to see both of you (Colorful_Tengu and Beligerent Feck)handle themselves a little better in this thread. It doesn't matter how it started but please let's have the both of you end it without further derailing this post.

      Thanks guys.

Honestly Sega and the community have to work together. We have to take the positive steps to begin with, but if Sega continues its hands-off (slightly hostile once in a while) approach then we can't really do much but communicate our frustrations and continue doing our best. I think that's the motive for complaining in the first place because that's what occurred with VF4E. I still think it's worth emphasizing that they took up copyright disputes with the Evo DVDs and I think a Florida tourney? I can't remember.

Sega has been a very poorly-run business since the 90's. So, I think placing the responsibility solely on the community is on the extreme side of things. We can only do so much if people don't know/don't care about VF or buy the game in the first place. Often VF players in the west have a rep for elitism and we can only do so much to manage those expectations ourselves. The FGC is a social clique in some areas as much as anything else, and often people have to meet in others' houses.

      _________Meta/Upsetting things below this line_______________

Against my better judgement, let me put it straight -- the dominant social dynamic here is elitism driven with vague conceptual debates and long-standing personal rivalries -- oftentimes in threads about how to play the game. I've been "trolled" in the past 6 months for things I said 3 years ago or longer. Apparently Tfam and Tengu can't bury the hatchet in particular.

I've made my peace with the people who actually had business being offended, but apparently that isn't enough. There's a startling degree of pettiness and it's in every single thread about how someone plays or should play. I honestly want nothing to do with people do act that way. And perhaps it was hypocritical of me to dredge up things in the Xbox Live forum, but my arguments were grounded in facts, not just pretension or a personal distaste for people on the internet (maybe that was the case a long time ago, but again, I've made my peace).

I go long stretches of time just not posting or visiting the site (or playing VF) because I know people will only read what they want to hear. I'm sure it'll happen again with this very post lmao.

Regardless of how articulately the arguments stated in the threads are that's the case as I see it. SRK is large enough to keep most of those things contained in local threads or PMs -- perhaps one of the few things they do right over there and part of the impetus behind why I got "emo" in the first place.

From here on out, I'll stick to the local threads and PMs when I'm upset with someone and need to get nasty or tell them to fuck off. I'm making that commitment right now since I haven't done it in the past, and Myke should ban me for as long as he pleases if I step too far over the line (I'd venture to say I'm nowhere near it right now, actually).

TL;DR: If VFDC wants to deal with an influx of new players by having long-winded drama threads involving rivalries dating back a decade, enjoy having absolutely 0 new people playing. I'm only speaking out against that so before you decide to call this post itself hypocritical please entertain what I'm saying a little bit (for once). I'm serious.

Knowing how people will react itt I will probably stick to the facts from here on out in this discussion.

i've already done an abridged version of this speech on stream in front of sega and toward our community. and i will continue to agree with this.

while the drama can't be avoided - it can't be what takes up 99% of vfdc

we have finally gotten what we begged for and thats the attention of SEGA - lets do something positive with it. We have evidence that we can get some sort of sanction with virtua fighter footage (look at IPlayWinner and Final Round) and due to the fact that we arent SELLING it anymore (evo DVDs) i don't see them trying to sue or hurt us again in the future.

So lets keep up this pace! Lets continue to put our minds together and get our game out there! Also, don't forget that the new kids are coming. WELCOME THEM WITH KNOWLEDGE & BEATINGS!!! I can't wait

Nice to see an interview revealing more details about the console version of VF5FS but...

Can someone please edit this thing? I'll be damned if I'm going to stomach watching about 40 minutes of this sleep-inducing video clip before I actually get to see the part I want.

You should be able to drag the time scrolling bar thing below the video to the 39 minute mark. I think someone posted in this thread a youtube video also of just the interview.

You're not that far off tbh.

I found this while crawling through SRK. VF5:FS Item Search

Props to the SRK person who originally posted it. No idea how he/she found it.

Im not gonna lie, I was hoping that the items would be either included from the beginning, or release periodically for free. But as weird as it sounds, I think people respond to paid DLC more, so I'm kind of glad that at least SEGA are approaching things in a modern sense for once. If it was included already or free, a lot of people wouldnt notice, or wouldnt take it seriously I think, plus at least it means VF can have a chance to generate some money for the franchise. I want to see the old SEGA a little and some of its greater franchises return, because for me games arent much 'fun' anymore, fuck all this 'competitive' 'professional' 'esports' bullshit I keep hearing...

This video missed out a lot of features such as changing stages etc, like when the walls drop down on the snow stage, and weather effects. Plus I think showing the characters in a different appearance would have helped show the game in a new light for a lot of unfamiliar people. I hope they include some promotional items from the arcade, or the bingo feature etc, but I think some things will end up being arcade only (probably only minor things).

I think by the time it gets released I'll be back in Japan, but either way I'll be getting this without a doubt.

      Dont forget Virtual On: Force!!!

HoTD4 was actually on my wish list and it just came out of the blue for me, so Ive gotta rep SEGA for that.

I'm neutral to the DLC thing until the plans are released.

I don't think many games implement DLC in a way that's useful or interesting, but I think cosmetic items are harmless -- it's not like Blazblue:CS, KOF13 or MvC3s strategy of releasing new characters as DLC.

Maybe being able to trade paid DLC items between players or selling 'fight money' to spend on DLC items would be the way to go. Car tokens work sorta the same way in Forza.

Hopefully it will pave the way for future updates to the arcade game to come out as free patches or whatever. ALSO SFxTekken has implemented a character data via USB thing that tracks player config data like buttons, w/l and the gem system. I hope we see it in VF5FS.

It sounds like it will have all/if not, most of the items from the arcade. In original VF5, new items were released on a monthly basis. With VF5FS, they seem to released new items when when the game is updated (A and A.1).

sadly this is like the VFDC norm when it comes to any thread. Usually about the 5th page mark all threads tend to go off topis. Why is it so hard to stay on topic? If you know what you are going to post has nothing to do with the topic why post it? Use shout box or make your own thread.

This is not direct at just Tengu or Feck. It's directed at everyone myself included.

Oh yea, and how lucky are the VF'ers that live near Southtown Arcade, San Fransico...Tournaments every month!

At the bottom of page 2, Shinobi has just the VF:FS video part posted.

Watching the video was ok, I guess. I never seen the appeal in waiting for my turn to play in a lobby. Two people are just better to me without the noise of others, that's if they are talking.

Hopefully, the release can be at least early summer or something, because my ps3 system just sits there without use mostly.

I agree with you that cosmetic items are better than characters. Seems like such a cheap thing to do. Buy our new overpowered character or you'll never win online. New items don't matter so you're not handicapped.

Its still annoying that they'll have dlc as soon as the game launches though. I would have preferred we get every arcade item and then they could release new items after that. Proper dlc should be released after the game is launched to extend its life, not at launch.

I was pretty upset when they announced the items would be dlc but now I'm going to wait before passing final judgement. Lets see what the prices are.

Sega is pretty good at working with Sony for the ps+ program, maybe I'll be able to get some free item packs.

Not to mention the fact that you pretty much HAVE to buy any DLC characters if you're serious about the game, whether you're planning to use them or not. I'm actually fine with paying for new items, since they're not really needed to play the game. I hope at least some of them are included in the game though...
