Really great to see some evo clips, but man, could that jacky have played any more boring?

That clip was alright. It woulda been better if not for the EXTREMELY scrubby Jacky. But on the plus side, there was an awesome new wolf low throw, as well as his new knee. I also liked the new track for this stage(dural's).

From the looks of that clip, it doesn't seem like jacky's new mid punch is any less effective than his elbow. Why get rid of his elbow then if the new punch can be abused just as much? Makes no sense to me. Any chance we can see some Akira clips. I hear that he's been severely toned down while Jacky and Lau are still as strong as ever. /versus/images/icons/mad.gif Maybe in Evo Version B this will be remedied.
I hope Daioh has some Evo clips up soon. It's been a while since it's been updated. All of a sudden Ver. C seems obsolete...... /versus/images/icons/confused.gif

Somehow I get the impression that the Jacky player was mostly trying out new moves and stuff. At least, I sincerely hope so, because boy did they ever look scrub-tacular.

I loved the music in the Lau vs Lau clip, but this track does nothing for me. Repetitive guitar riffs. Ugh.

The goal for some of the move changes was to reduce the sameness of different characters (we don't need four or five people all doing the same knee right? Especially if they have other combo tools?)

But for others it was a simple animation change. Jacky's always been a constantly elbowing character, so think of it as a changed animation, not an attempt to balance jacky (who's pretty much fine the way he is, no knee etc)

So I'm assuming it's still 14 frames then. Does Akira's m-dblpm still come out at the same speed (12 frames?)

Wow, that was a really cool vid. I can't get over that Wolf low punch cut, lol. Anyway, Jacky looks to stay very similar to what he already is, and that's a 100% Badass =). Actually if you look at the animation of the so-called elbow replacement it actually is a elbow only with different animation, more jeet kune do like though. Also check out that Jacky 3 punch throw, super cool. His mid kick is also looking to be frame friendly, oh boy. Well I am totally jacked to play some evo at my arcade soon and hold it down hydra style =). later.

PS- The fight was overall nice, unfortunately I think the wolf player wasn't very well versed against the Jacky, Wolf was letting him Pete him to death. Jacky was just gettin it done, that's all. =) later.

Yeah, you're right. It's basically an animation change, as it's still an overused/overpowerful move, much like Lau's Elbow still is. He still sounds gay though. Really wish they hired real voice actors, instead of picking whities off the street.

The announcer sounds weird also. Overall, the animation looks as smooth as ever. It also seems to have more of a VF2 vibe to it as well. If this comes out for xbox exclusively, i'll have to reluctantly buy one just for this game.

Noooo!! what the hell was that? Jacky's animations are just plain gay this time around. I cringed at that new throw! I mean three pansy punches (karate kid style no less) with the trademark "HhOooOoOEeEe!!!"

But he'll still be my character I guess

Say, so for my scrubby information, what should the Wolf player be doing against such a Jacky?

    Thx.

Not even confirmed for a home version yet.
Personally -- I hope they wait until Summer 2003 to release a home version.

For starters, he could dodge a little more often. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

I wasn't that crazy about this clip the first time I saw it. I guess it had to grow on me. So after watching it for about the twentieth time /versus/images/icons/blush.gif, I noticed a few things:

Wolf's knee doesn't float /versus/images/icons/shocked.gif. I was told (and read somewhere) that the knee produces a stomach Kuzure Down on MC. Texas followed that with [6]+[P], I think. That's not so bad, I guess. But I don't play Wolf, so what do I know?!

The characters make noises when staggered. Interesting.

I really like Wolf's new throw. Texas performs it after the low punch reversal.

I like the new animation changes. It makes the characters motions look less generic.

The BGM is decent, but the new fighter selection screen will take some getting used to.
