All martial arts fans need to see this film imo, plus you get to see an elephant giant swinged lol.

Saw this film a bit ago, but I remember every scene. This is easily one of the best MA films I have seen. 95% of it is Jaa kicking people around the room, and the other 5% makes for a nice intermission, allowing people to get a drink, some food, or take a shit....

There are moments on Sha po lang, but it is kinda weak...one of the guys does an awesome flying armbar though!

is it me or did that music change during the fight totally kill the some of the coolness of the battle? Was that just music overlayed onto the origional or was that the actual soundtrack for the movie?

It says at the side that the guy edited the music himself, so its probably not part of the movie. I don't think it totally kills the scene though. I really liked the capoeira, that was probably the first time I've seen it in practiced in real life, even if it was fake or not. Im going to try and rent this when I get the chance, along with Ong Bak, which I still can't believe I haven't seen yet. Are there any other movies anyone recommends that have some capoeira, I might just go all out and rent three straight martial art films.

If its anything like ong bak, i'll pass.

In ong bak the main character used so many moves that aren't even muay thai, sure he used lots of muay thai moves but he used just as much if not even more moves that are not muay that at all.

And that clip up there is basically the same thing, the moves he eventually used to beat the cap. guy isn't even muay thai.

There are no jumping spinning kicks in muay thai or side kicks or spinning low sweeps. Heck he even used some cap. techniques or imitation cap. techniques to beat the cap. guy.

When i'm watching a kung fu movie , i expect to see kung fu , especially from the characters who are supposed to be using kung fu, and i apply the same standard on any martial arts movie, including one that supposed to be a muay thai movie.

    What's sha po lang?

    So what?
I'm pretty sure that most people who are trained in one art use moves from a different one. If one particular 'move' is the best for the situation, then use it.

Oh Noes! He doesnt stay 100% faithful to the martial art. But he uses it. And like every other Martial Art, its more then likely lacking in areas, so you cross train and adapt it in, otherwise martial arts would jsut become a big game of Rock Paper Scissors.

Exactly. The only person who can stick to their style and never adapt is Jeff, because he has a boat.

Holy shit that was nice shit there! I really love this acrobatic cheese-kungfu extravaganza hard from behind!

I got to see Born To Fight & Sha Po Lang and make up my own mind, they say Donnie revitalizes his Legend of the Wolf style and the film must anyway be good, so what the hell....

Only the Strong is a capoeira film, a bit old but it has Dacascos in it, so it rocks! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeerum has a gymnast and wushu background and has been on national level track & field guy. With that background and good mimicing skills, one doesn't need to know many martial arts to make it look visually exciting.

If he only used MT, it'd bore me to death. In Ong Bak he used Muay Thai perfectly enough for my needs anyway. Best to opt for that, this scene was more of a capoeira commercial... /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It's a top rated Sammo/ Donnie Yen HK film noir film, had mixed reviews on martial arts, I've yet to see it.

I just saw Sha Po Lang too and I must say it rocked HARD! /versus/images/graemlins/lol.gif

Plot was actually interesting, atmosphere was great and the two fights Donnie had were awesome, especially the outstanding bout with Jackie Wu Jing. Definitely, this film has better choreography than anything Ong Bak has to offer, no mastershot bullshit and slow reactions. Can´t wait to see TYG!
