From my limited savate experience it is actually very important for a martial artist to constantly check where his feet are in relation to his opponents' feet. Otherwise he risks getting a kick in the behind his knee or a body hook to the kindeys. Or just a foot in the mouth. Kinda like a forum goer.

From my not so limited wrestling and limited boxing experience, constantly changing stance from southpaw to orthodox doesn't really happen. It's too hard to build a rhythm and disrupts your base. Don't be so quick to try to punk anyone with your French foot slapping skills.

No, no, no, you got me wrong, i was on the receiving end /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif But hey, i believe you, everybody is a black belt on the internet /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif Kinda like you, ninja posting before i manage to painfully edit my post to make it less derisive. I thus have to apologize, please don't hurt me with your mastery of martial arts /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I wrestled in high school for three years and boxed for almost one in college (a combination of chasing girls and not liking getting hit in the face kind of deterred this one). I said not so limited and limited, but you twist that into black belt? Besides, you brought up our Savate experience first. Then you said I put my foot into my mouth. I edited my post for grammar and spelling. The content didn't change, chief. If you can't add anything to the topic, especially when I discredit your point about switching between orthodox and southpaw stances on nearly every move (open and closed stances), stop posting. If you want to be a dick who is mad that he doesn't have a solid point, don't try to cover it up with condescending, backhanded comments and smiley faces.

So someone else trots out Savate skills, but I'm the sole butt of the joke? As if wrestling and a bit of boxing is that uncommon. This place is fucked up.

Which hand/foot is forward is not what stance in VF is about. Its the position the character is in relation to the other character. Secondly, discussion what things are in RL and in games is as pointless as they come.

Hey, can you throw fireballs in RL?

Can't You!? LOL. You just duck a bit, lean on your knee, then lean a bit forward, do one step forward and hit the air with a right (or left) straight. Your other hand should move on it's own and both will spit a fireball. This will happen only if you shout HADOUKEN when doing that. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Sometimes if I do a couple of jabs then lean forward and do a light kick, if I try to do a heavy straight, I end up moving forward at great speed uncontrollably. I remember once I ended up colliding with someone then everything went black and I heard a lot of hitting sounds. When I came to, they were on the floor, out cold and I was standing over them with a look of disgust on my face and had a strange temporary tattoo on my back.

I think there was also a sign to my left that said "15 Hit Combo" which I could have sworn wasn't there before I blacked out. It disappeared shortly after, so I can't say if it really was there or not.

Once I fought a guy who used to be my family's worse enemy, but I could not defeat him with my power as it were. I had to summon a greater inner strenght, punch the ground with my fist AS HARD AS I COULD, and amazingly a geiser of energy came bursting out of the ground. I like to call that technique "Power Geiser".

Needless to say, my nemesis was defeated.

Wow, at least your life is interesting. I just wander around the world homeless, shoeless and clueless, fighting strong fighters, and eating tons of food in an instant whenever I get a chance to. I don't pay for that of course.

My friend on the other hand... damn, that twat flies around (I think there are some strings somewhere, can't find them though), and sometimes he likes to shout a lot, than there's this boom, and he goes blonde. What's that all about? I mean... WTF?

Nevermind then. Today, I practiced throwing fireballs but I messed up a lot and my feet sprung me upwards really high. I wanted to use that so I went with "superman-pose" with my fist pointing to the sky, and for some reason... I shouted Shoryuken!
Since that discussion started, strange things have been happening to me...

Open or close stance, in reguards to foot position, is incredibly important in wrestling. It's quite ludicrous to think otherwise.

If you don't watch foot position in a fight with me, you might end up with both my feet deep in your ass /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

I'm going to ignore all the other lames who are just piling on and the ones who actually think three years of wrestling in high school are elite skills.

I'm referring to how most characters switch from orthodox stance to southpaw as a result of their techniques. Most of you are being purposely obtuse in regards to this so you can all e-gang up on the new guy, but I see people making cases all of the time for why this aspect of a fighting style should be in the game or not. The game doesn't need to be realistic, but it should be believable. If there's a deviation from those principles, there should be an enticing reason why. Switching stance from orthodox to southpaw constantly does neither, IMO.

Besides, I thought discussions of fireballs, kangaroos and anything else of the like gets you sent to Shoryuken. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
