Ok I'm new to basically Virtual Fighter in general but I've played fighting games long enough to know when to be cautious and when to attack but... I'm having trouble finding "safe" moves for Jeffry in general. I tend to try and poke with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif from a distance and then follow up with a Knee if it hits, this worked on a few people but then if they blocked I was screwed.
I just want to know what moves are good to use when close to an opponent. thx

    go here:

    http://virtuafighter.com/commands/index.php?ver=5c&chara=jeffry

sort by guard, safe moves are -9 on guard or better.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is punishable on guard and disadvantaged even on normal hit. If it counter hits ( noise, yellow flash ) you have a medium advantage, but not enough to knee.

    read
    http://virtuafighter.com/wiki/doku.php?id=vf5:jeffry:strategy
    for more on this.

If you're asking for safe opening (round opening) moves or up close pokes, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is what you want - you're at large disadvantage if they guard, but nothing's guaranteed (you can dodge or guard to defend attacks, and throw escape or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to beat throws); if you counter hit, they're floating in the air and you can land /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif.

Don't count out /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (though /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is very very good too!).

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will beat anything as long as it isn't a faster /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, reversal/sabaki/inashi, or if it crushes high attacks.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif gives advantage on block, +5 on hit, and +8 on CH. On counter force a Throw//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif guessing game.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif staggers, and staggers are good.

Yeah I'm actually getting the hang of things now and Jeffry is tearing house. I'll post more things that are going on once I get to play some humans... :sigh:

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is a good option, as it's fast, with stupid range, and it has a canned follow-up that can be delayed for a year.

His side kick is good too. It isn't safe, but again, it's fast, it has insane range, and is a knock down on any hit (and you can add /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif on a counter for even more damage).

Also, make use of the Kenka Hook. It's a half circular, special high move, that head crumples on any hit, giving around 84 damage on normal hit, with even more on counter (I know this isn't a safe poke, but it's such a good move that it deserves a mention).

My favorite opening round move with Jeff: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

You crouch dash and smile at your opponent?

I do hat a lot for space but I'm doing better on openings now. If the character is probably gonna rush me I just /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and it generally stops them. If they are gonna be slower than me or might be trying to crouch the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif has worked wonders. Thanks everyone for the advice.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is just amazing move. Looks simple but takes a lot of dmg.
It's save from distance as well.

I'm finding that just dodging is the best policy when playing online XD. I'm seriously waiting for the opponent to make a move first but its not hard, love it.

Lately I like doing 333...3333P+G. It's just great mixed with 3K.

you can't be serious? I tried that once and got laid out.

It works for me pretty good.
3K is save on block, but easy to evade.
    33P+G kills sidestep and block.

Good reward for a small risk.

    I've found a surprising amount of success using 2K+G > 33P+G

It's kind of a stupid move, and shouldn't work, but as long as people stand there and take it, I'll keep doing it.

66PP is nice against more expierenced players.

Delayed second P launch on CH.

PK is very nice as well. Delayed K launch on CH.

P+K, P. Delayed P:6P+G on CH takes 60dmg and looks great.

crushes. backdash moves out of range of most attacks and smashes in with the hammer.

backdash and threatstance to throw or kick has nice effects too.

    crouchbackdash and hellstab works well.

depending on opponent, I like doing backdash and then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

if that is some dumbass shit, please indicate /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

43P+K is one of my favorite. Save on block and huge advantage on hit.

For me it depends on the person I'm playing against.

Backdash the first round and see how they play.
Second Round I go for 3K or if I'm feeling at a large disadvantage I'll use 2K+G
