Yea, I'm loving the Hori Evo stick too. I've spent the last hour or so going through Aoi's command input and training excercises, and not once have I felt compelled to blame the stick when a move didn't go through properly - which just leaves my skill and timing to blame!

Awesome game, btw. This is my first time with Evo apart from the demo and I just love this game to bits. Everything is an improvement over VF4 port - more character detail, better lighting, smoother move transitions, great new moves and MUCH better music. I also love the changes to the stages...Wolf's stage is simply stunning!

Don't forget those classic vf4 skills too soon now!

I'm specifically avoiding playing evo jeff so I can use him without getting myself all confused tomorrow.

Yeah when I first got my stick I was a bit worried about it's "loose-ness" compared to my other crappy sticks but quite honestly its sensitivity is amazing. On my old sticks you really had to work hard to modify Akira's dbpm or shrm making float combos a nightmare but now they come really easily. And also now I can do his infamous knee move with no sweat!Once you find a way to do it with the nice big hori buttons you never forget it but on the old " smarties for buttons " joysticks I've got it was pretty much impossible.
I can not really describe how deep the game is.For a start to try and master just one character could take for ever but now there are so many ais to fight and so much stuff to unlock I doubt I'll ever get bored of it. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Good point. Fortunately Aio dosen't seem to have changed too much. Jacky, on the other hand......

Yeah love those buttons too..the stick is very similar to the Sega Arcade stick from DC so I always was used to those big "loose" buttons..but i agree again.
cant expres enough how much I love that stick.

and for the game being deep, I agree again.. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif
that game is just everything you want it to be(except the save/character file )

With a tutorial that explains you pretty much all from beginner to advanced...noone can have excuse anymore that they dont know how to play VF..

And to think of we all had to find this stuff ourselves from Vf1 to 3..and internet wasn't really around that time either..

Not only that, but this form of training pushes in game tutorials further than any game that I can think of, and is the most in depth tutorial for a fighter by a long shot.

Not only does the tutorial provide you with 'nearly' everything you need to know about the VF style of fighting, but covers every character is depth specifically as well.

The best part though, is that they throw in the versatile 'free training' mode, which offers basically infinite options of game settings to choose on the fly, and is an excellent supplement to the trial mode.

Let's say that for instance you completed the double throw escape trial in the trial training, but are having trouble performing it in a regular match. You can set up the computer to emphasize on high throws, and see how you perform under those conditions, and from there you can apply what you have learned to Quest (and VS) mode.

If there is one thing that Sega definately imporved for the home version of VF, it is the training mode, nothing comes close to it. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Plus the fact you can customise the training " trials " you wanna do.Feel like doing shrm>DLC 5 times in 15 secs?Set up the trial the way you want it and go for it!

But what exactly is the memory card problem?
If I start a file with one character in Quest then try to use another character in this mode the first will be erased?

Or is it that your allowed to have 1p and a 2p Quest file? So Id have to switch the stick from 1p side to 2p side depending on which Quest file I wanted to use.

The memorycard problem is that you can have from every character 2 saves on your card.
But you cannot take your characters to your mates house to play with your own character..so all the customised stuff and statistics you cannot take with you. as the game only recognizes one data load
If your friend has loaded his data you cannot load your data in...

To me the whole concept of customizing your character although very cool..is a bit useless now..
as you cannot take you character anywhere to play your friends character..
Why they did change it from VF4 is a mystery to me..

Thanks for the games man, that was a pretty convincing show you put on with your Akira - my Aio and Lion couldn't shift you. Was surprised when my Shun offered me some respite, as he's the least developed of my characters.

Rest assured I'll be putting some practice in for next time, particularly against those low-palms. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I only did so well cause vf4 version b Akira is a little overpowered.

You still managed to excellent me at least once though.

so i cant play my friends at all with my character.

    What a load of bullshit.

Yeah unfortunately thats the crux of the mem card problem. If you and some mates get organised however and have a special card you all decide to use for human - human fighting that could kinda solve it.That way you could play as a customised char but ranks would stay low as you'd be fighting only one another and items and clothes and that wouldn't be that interesting as you couldn't all play through the quest as your individual chars at the same time!

Well, that's a little harsh. They certainly got Virtua Fighter itself right.

I think I'm going to head out to my local import games shop, and pick up the PAL version today. Now I'll finally know what the hell is going on...

I am pretty pissed about that memory card issue. But at least for me, a couple friends and I can use 1 card for just doing vs mode. Still think it sucks compared to the old system

all they needed was player data not stupid system data. I guess that's what they did to decrease the loading times.

In a couple weeks there will be a solution to the memory card situation somewhat.

You will be able to everything about your character, except for your win/loss tallies. This can be accomplished with Gameshark/Action Replay type devices.

For VF4 (non Evo), the cheats were all costumes/items unlocked, and I am willing to bet that this will be the exact same for Evo, if not also infinite money.

Just check your usual source for cheats and codes to see what comes out in the next couple days.

hmmm i wonder if you had a multi-tap plugged into the 1P port then had the two memory cards in the multi-tap if the game would read both files since they're both technically in slot 1? but the way that VF4:Evo saves, the one big file, this might not work. So i guess people should just make community cards for when they play with friends and one for when they play for Quest mode. Like for the community card put in the cheat for all items so people can just have fun and make their character look great for just playin with friends
