who went to this, who won and who got Bronze?

The douche that won last year's WCG Canada for VF5 actually got Silver and walked away with $700 USD. don't even get me started about how Llanfair won WCG 2009 and couldn't rep Canada at the Pan Ams.

    Shame on you people.

If you can't rep Canada at the Pan Ams by winning the WCG then how the hell do you get to?! I'm interested in knowing since I'm in Canada myself.

BTW what's the "douche's" name anyways?

well he won WCG Canada 2008. My issue is that Llanfair clearly won 2009 WCG Canada, the Pan Am games should have been stocked with current WCG champs, not former champs who clearly have a limited game skill set.

well his "handle" is Yamamba and all I can really say is that he rubbed me the wrong way. Seems like a nice guy at the outset and then you wonder if he isn't damaged upstairs a little. his pre-game theatrics were embarrassing too.

I see now, I agree with your statement of that it should be current champs. Well I wish I was there, I'd give him a chokeslam for his troubles [IMG] Seriously though, maybe your exaggerating the limited game skill set part, I mean he must be some-what good after all to win WCG 2008 and place top 3 Pan Ams, but I'm surprised he can beat you since your a pretty solid Jeff and Llanfair is also really good. (assuming you guys played him don't actually know)

The pre-game theatrics sounds humorous though lol, is it possible to go into more detail? [IMG]

Yamamba beat me last year at 2008 WCG Canada Nationals. Quite honestly, I lost to his Vanessa and I just had little to no experience in playing him or Vanessas in general. He's not a bad player, but I think he's a player who could use some more human competition and some time enhancing his own fundamentals of the game (defensive techniques in particular). I think this is where GE's comment fits - Yamamba's fundamentals are not very well developed.

Vanessa has tactics that the best of players find frustrating and he certainly uses those as a major part of his arsenal. When played with a machi approach, they're frustrating to beat and last year I simply didn't figure Yamamba's style and tactics out in time.

This year it was different in that I had more time and more games to figure out his style of play.

Beyond that, it's a shame that Nationals are held so close to Pan-am championships because it would make more logical sense to send current champions. I'm still curious to know if the US sent anyone to Mexico - my gut feeling says no.

There were some moments involving MMA gloves that were certainly out of the ordinary...
