Persona 4 Ultimate Mayonaka aka P4 Fightmans Game

As hype as I am for VF5FS, there hasn't been a 2D fighter in years that's managed to get me crazy excited for its launch. Oh, sure, there's been a lot of good stuff released, but I'm talking about a game I'll follow devotedly from announcement to release and then continue to play. Darkstalkers used to do that for me, but nobody has any clue when that will ever return.

But now there is! See, I love the Persona series greatly, and the announcement that Arc System Works' BlazBlue team and Atlus were teaming up to do a Persona-themed fighter immediately had my interest. The whole Persona element lends itself to being something of a spiritual successor to the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fighting game, which I also love.

There are still four open slots on the character select screen (you can see Kanji and Yukiko), and one of them is almost guaranteed to be Naoto. The other 3 are likely more P3 cast members... Mitsuru, hopefully! Plus I'm willing to bet there will be more characters unlocked later.

So yeah, after years of not really being able to seriously dive into any fighter in good conscience due to work obligations, I'll be making sure to set aside a healthy amount of "for funsies" gaming time for both this and VF5FS in 2012.

 

whaaaaaat! Sounds pretty sick now let's see which route they take whem it comes to balance and depth of gameplay. Won't complain any way though

Im not familar with Persona but im feeling what im see here..a spirtual successor to Jojo? Shit is Milk!!!

 

Aigis is gonna be as broken as Nu. Can't wait!

 

Im def gon get this. Vf5, doomsday ( dota like ), shen megami tensai persona is my fav rpg i ever played. I look foward to this

 

This is going to be playable at TGS! Hell yes. I'm gonna give it a spin on the show floor and write some hands-on afterwards.

One of the screens makes mention of Kuma/Teddy as an opponent, so I guess he's in. Hopefully in the dictator getup we've seen in the promo art.

 

Looking forward to seeing how this game turns out, but it's looking nice so far and the Blazblue team is probably the perfect team for the job!

I have to admit, on the side, I'm amusing myself with the idea of a Digital Devil Saga fighting game that would be an Arc System Works take on Mortal Kombat

Glimpses of Kanji and Yukiko. No Aigis footage - I suspect she's not actually finished yet. Oh well!

 

Looks like they have Shoji Meguro as the sound composer. That'll be great and add an authentic Persona feel to the game. This is definitely a game I'm looking forward to trying out.
