1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Something I've wondered about for a while:

Is there enough interest among the VFDC community for something like this?

    What is it?:
For those of you who don't know, Ventrilo is PC voice chat software. You simply connect to a server and start chatting. A server consists of a lobby and as many rooms as you wish to make (ok there might be a limit but not that I know of). I've been using a ventrilo server to keep in contact with my highschool friends, and I've literally talked to them every day since I graduated (5 years ago!). Ventrilo servers are hosted by many different companies but the one I use with my friends ranges from about $10 a month for 25 possible user connections to $18.50/mo for 50 users. The prices become much less costly if you pay for 3-12 months at a time though. I'd be willing to fund the first 3 months but if it really took off I might start asking some generous people for donations /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    The Idea:
Well, a place for people from VFDC to hang out pretty much. Theres more behind it than that though. With the room feature, for those of us with PCs next to our Xboxs, you could sit in a private room and talk with whomever you're playing with in player matches. No more shitty XBL quality microphone. Essentially I'm hyping this to try and unite the american/euro VF community a little more. Forum threads just don't do human interaction justice. Being able to talk with VF players in open debate about the ins/outs of VF could be a big step up for the non-japanese VF community. Or alternatively, just a spot to hang out as mentioned earlier /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Potential Problems:
Microphones. I'm not sure if many of you have mics for your PCs. It's been a staple computer peripheral for me. Other than that, interest. Dunno how many of you even care for something like this but I decided to find out. Also not sure if you guys spend enough time around your computers for this. I know some of you practically live on the shoutbox though /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

I really wanted to get into this because of WCG Fighter Club and something Flash said afterwards in a post. He said if I had any questions about VF I should just ask, but I realized I don't always know what to ask. And realized that the most fun I've had is just listening to other people talk about VF. Forum threads just don't do that justice for me.

Anyway, there it is. Post up if you think you'd be interested at all. Or post if you hate it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif Hopefully the first thread I've ever created on VFDC won't go down in the hall of shame.

Its a cool idea but its easier for me to just use IRC at work since I can just type and dont need to speak.

I used Ventrilo for a long time when I played MMOs, though I'm not sure if I would use it to chat random stuff with VFDCers, the idea is nice. Shoutbox where you can actually shout!

Not only is it easier it's probably smarter. I don't think your boss would take to kindly to hearing "fuck a spod!" in the middle of your work. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Now you've got me worried! Do I really wanna hear the shoutbox SPOKEN??!

Anyway, maybe this only suits a certain type of life style. I come home from work just looking to relax, watch some TV and talk with my friends. Guess it's not for everyone.

Its an interesting idea because ventrilo quality is 1000 times better than xbox voice.. Ive used it while playing MMOs (mainly eve online)

On the other hand, my PC is on a separate floor from my xbox currently, so I couldnt utilize it while playing without some really big arrangements.

Setting it up on your PC is not that hard in theory although people tend to get problems with their sound input device drivers etc (getting the microphone to work, not really ventrilo problem). You also need the server to get started..

I have ventrilo setup already, so I could just jump in if you give me server details..

For random conversations about game stuff, irc is better, although #vfhome is, quite frankly, full of random bullshit and spamming. I dont bother joining that channel usually. It would need to be cleaned up and moderated better if people want to use it to actually relay info about the game.
