Does this mean network code might be better on PS3? I've noticed the UFC 2010 online experience for PS3 is less problematic that XBL

Actually, I'm still running it own several PS3's that I have. You didn't have to upgrade your firmware. And if your linux applications R more important than getting online, then you leave Linux in place. I have one PS3 that I use for gaming, but the rest R used in a research clustr.

That's the beauty of this tangent, it was anticipated. SD stands for Spaniard Derail and when you see it used in a post it is obvious that the author knows a slew of Princess Bride quotes are coming.

I'll never understand why every age group seems to pick up on that movie but I love it. My 12 year old Goddaughter lists it as her favourite movie. so awesome.

With a VFDC name like mine, I should continue the derail; though now I feel there are others people with more legitimacy to the name.

On topic, I don't think this is a 360 v PS3 comment by AM2 really.

It is more about 3D graphics APIs and complimentary hardware, or whether symmetrical or asymmetric CPUs are better for games, physics middleware, graphics and network gaming.

(imo), in an ideal world there would be no such thing as a (single O/S vendor) 3D graphics API in the way Direct3D, HLSL, DirectX is.

Instead all 3D APIs would be truly cross-platform, and open review board controlled, like OpenGL (GLSL)/Collada.

That way you don't get one GPU manufacturer (first Nvidia with Xbox and then ATI with the 360) adjusting the specifications to gain a competitive advantage with Direct3D/”Games for windows” in the Windows market place.

Even though Nvidia's Cg (uses OpenGL, Direct3D & Cg) this still regularly gives Nvidia cards running Cg an edge versus ATI cards; and this is what I believe AM2 use for Lindbergh Linux based systems.

As for a comparison of symmetrical & asymmetric CPUs for gaming, it is actually the situation that games produced for asymmetric systems might not port to symmetrical systems like Lindbergh/360/PC (without more cores/faster processors).

Similarly the same is also true in reverse (without increasing the bus speed & adding more RAM) porting from symmetric systems to asymmetric systems like the CELL might be impossible.

Asymmetric CPUs do have a slight advantage for networking and physics engines, because the SPUs (synergistic processing units) can work independently of the general purpose CPU cores; and they also carry out their work with very predictable timing (deterministic). They are such simpler & faster work horses so they don't cache-miss like symmetrical cores do.

So basically, they are developing a game on an good but old symmetrical PC CPU with lots of memory, using a good old Nvidia graphics card with Nvidia Cg and Nvidia PhysX.

Neither the 360/PS3 are an ideal target platform to port from Lindbergh; as the PS3 needs more RAM and the 360 needs more graphics card pipeline flexibility.

But even with these minor issues Lindbergh hardware is trumped by both systems .

Waaaay better. He said on Encore he was on drugs and Relapse he was cleansing them out. This album makes up for his last two albums which weren't as good as they coulda been.

Haven't watched The Princess Bride yet but after reading this thread I already put it on my movie queue

I did because there's a drought of good NEW HipHop music
Even Eminem's worst album (Relapse wasn't his worst, Encore was) is still better than most of the crap that's out now

All genres of music have their highs and lows. I was just talking to a friend of mine who doesn't listen to HipHop or Rap anymore. He's strictly Rock now but back in the golden age of HipHop, he was strictly Rap/HipHop and I don't blame him cuz Rock used to suck back in the hair band days and Hip Hop was really good.
Now the tables have turned, lol. Hopefully Rap/HipHop will go back to what it used to be.
We still listen to the old school shit though

Personally, I think it all started when silly Southern Rap music started to take over the genre
I don't hate Southern rappers who got skills like Ludacris but all that other "Wait till you see my dick" and "Laffy Taffy" BULLSHIT has got to go!

It's aight to dance to that shit when you at the club but Rap ain't about the instruments like Rock is. Rap is more about the lyrics and if you ain't saying something lyrically like:
Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kwali (and even Kanye... sometimes) do... chances are, your songs are lyrically wack... your beats may be good like Lil John... but lyrically? C'mon son!

Eminem wasn't saying much lyrically in his last two albums, but Recovery? It's hard NOT to call that album one of his best. Lyrically, he killed it.
Jay's still got it too and even though Common doesn't really make "hit" records or songs, he's lyrically one of the best.

It's slim pickings nowadays for NEW Rap/HipHop songs... compared to the 90's when HipHop was on top.
