The Portland PS2 VF4 Gathering was a good success and I met a lot new players as well as VFDC lurkers at the pre-gathering at Tilt.

Anyways, it was an exciting weekend (lots of VF4 action, close upset at the Super Bowl, fun fun fun).

I have written impressions (for anyone that's interested) in three parts at the <a target="_blank" href=http://groups.yahoo.com/group/portlandvf/>Portland VF site</a> in parts. Links to the impressions at the end of this message.

Hi, it's cool you had a nice turnout. Yeah the Super Bowl was close. How was the compitition you played against? I can't get into the links you posted since I'm not a member.

I'll put up a txt version of the impressions later on. The level of play varied, but the goal of the gathering was to get more people comfortable with the VF4 engine though quite a few of us (namely Rayblade, myself, Ryujin, and Chingdude) were pretty competitive, but open to the players who were just learning. Some people were making a transition from Tekken, some were making a transition from VF2. But overall, was great!

It was all about fun for the most part, and I think just about everyone had a good amount of fun.

The report can be found <a target="_blank" href=http://cs.oregonstate.edu/~saenguni/vf/reports/Portland%20vf4%20launch%20party.txt>here</a>.

It's mainly there for a casual read and the Portland players. I don't think everyone will be interested in reading this, and it certainly isn't like a national event, so don't expect anything major in it.
