the strategy guide explains it better than i can so here it is.

    successful evasion

a successful evasion takes 21 frames to complete. on the PS3 version, if the enemy successfully evades a very brief move of yours, like standing/crouching P, they may still be engaged in their successful evasion as your attack recovers. youll be able to attack first, and nothing done during a successful evasion can stop a throw.

so, a throw attempted at the earlier possible moment after your brief attack is evaded will somtetimes result in a 0-frame throw. on the xbox 360 version this is not the case, as attack escapes are granted a brief window of invlunerability to 0-frame throws.

the strategy guide doesnt state this but im guessing this might be a version c gameplay change to further balance the game.

catch throws also work different on the 360 version.

    catch throws

catch throws take longer to becone active than grab throws, but they often have odd evasive properties, cannot usually be throw escaped, and can beat out striking attacks. aoi, jacky, lau, and pai are the only characters without catch throws.

many of them are similar to el blazes high speed huracan rana towards opponent upper corner P+G-slow to start, but very useful for catching people off guard or beating out evasion attempts. catch throw will also beat out strikes if they nail the incoming attack before half the startup frames are gone (in other words, very early in the animation).

on the PS3 version, being hit during a catch throw is not considered a counterhit. on the 360 version, however, getting knocked out of a catch throw attempt is jiust as bad as being hit during an attack. all throws used from special, non-normal stances count as catch throws.

hope this helps some of you.
