1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

I'm having trouble getting my posts to turn out in Japanese. I decided to stop being lazy and write a message to see if anyone knows where I can get some hot VF action in Fukui. I have the fonts installed, I have a little language bar to switch inputs between Japanese and English, the Japanese language is installed, its set to auto-detect the encoding, and I can type in Japanese just fine. Only problem is when I hit "preview" my beautiful Japanese turns into "始め&#12414". /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif I've also tried emailing myself through hotmail in Japanese and that doesn't work either. I've checked everything I can think of but still no luck. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? Thanks!

ありがとう！　　<- See what I mean? /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif That was supposed to be "arigatou"

OK, I can see Japanese text when I go to some Japanese websites (www.amazon.co.jp) , but not others (www.subaru.co.jp), and not here. Why is that? I'm using the same computer, browser (I.E.), etc.

I am talking about selectable text, not graphical (.gif. .jpeg, etc).

Websites/pages will usually define the standard or default character set to be used within the html, so that when you visit the site and if the browser is compliant then you'll get it displayed 'correctly'. So, for most japanese websites they'll have one of the japanese character sets defined for that site. When you hit that site, your browser will automatically switch to the correct encoding, and everything looks fine.

On VFDC, and most other english sites, we're using an english character set (iso-8859-1 to be exact). To view text correctly in a foreign character set (foreign to the site) requires you to change the encoding in your browser manually.
