Production of VF5 for PS3 and 360 halted?

Not trying to spread rumors just trying to get clarification to see it this is true.
I bought a 360 yesterday but had a hard time trying to find VF5 for the 360. The guys that worked at Best Buy, Walmart and Gamestop all said the same thing.
They're usually not very accurate with their gaming info but this was too much of a coincidence for me to ignore it. I ended up buying a used VF5 disc from Blockbuster.
I know I could have bought it online but I didn't want to wait.

If anybody out there knows the truth, please post and clear the air on this issue.

I dunno where you'd find out for sure... but all the gamestops near me list having a whole bunch of new copies of the disc in stock on their website, if that's worth anything.

I saw new and used 360 VF5 at my GameStop last time I went. (sometime last week. Either Monday or Tuesday)

Actually, I'm not 100% sure I saw New. But I do know I definitely saw Used.

It's not surprising that Wal-Mart doesn't have it new anymore. BestBuy is kinda surprising since they keep games up there for a long while. But GameStop is definitely a shocker.

Anyways, I somehow doubt production has halted since people are still playing it online. Unless there's a technical issue on Sega's part why they can't produce more copies right now.

Maybe what the executives were talking about is finally being done; i.e. cutting production due to lack of profits.

Or it could just be a coincidence (more likely?).

If that turns out to be the case I hope it doesn't lessen the chances of VF5 R coming to consoles.

I would think that the 360 version would be nearing the end of production. I sincerely doubt the ps3 version is still being made. It was probably stopped a while ago, a few months even. Most games don't stay on the production line that long.

In Portugal the PS3 version can be found in everywhere, but the 360 version, I only find 1 copy in 1 store(hopefully it will be mine /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif )

Costco stores in my area have an overabundance of VF5 for 360 and have started selling them for $36.99

You would think the 360 version would sell more because its online, but it didnt. It sold like shit. Maybe it matched the PS3 sales, but thats not realy good, PS3 was at barely 25000 units install base at PS3 VF5 release, and you know not every Ps3 user bought it. I still see it in like every gamestop. I dont know , maybe because I live in Manhattan.

Well, the thing is: I'm not sure where people got this idea that VF5R was coming to consoles. All we ever got was a little footage, a few details like Taka and stage changes, and that's it.

I mean, I've been hearing from my source in Sega that execs are even putting up the possibility of just ditching the entire fighting game genre due to the general lack of interest in the west.

But of course, this perceived shortage could just be a fluke and is of no means an indication of anything hinted earlier in the post (there's always hope... haha).

Between Sonic Unleashed coming up, and the constant love for VF in Japan, I highly doubt Sega's would even toy with the idea of scrapping VF, and even question the talk of that. To me, I would look at VF as a Cow for Sega right now, but could be a Question Mark. Even if they consider it a Question Mark, it would be one that would be wise to fund to push it back into Cow or even Star range.

Also, the amount of effort it would take to put R on consoles would be minimal. I'm not a stats guy and don't have the information of their profit margins, but I would imagine that even if they were to release R and it sold worse than both B and C did, they wouldn't be missing out on much. Basically re-releasing a game for extra cash.

    (If R doesn't hit console though :\... Time to break the bank for a cabinet ; - ; )

I never had the idea it was coming to consoles. I'm just hoping it will.

I hope VF5R comes to consoles. However, if the series isn't doing well in the West at all...

Then VF5R on PS3 would probably be nice because PS3 games are generally not region-locked.

That said, I hope it comes to consoles in general.

    The numbers I have state...

VF5 Sales for the Xbox360 were around 130,000 in the US
VF5 Sales for the PS3 were About 220,000 in the US and 470,000 worldwide.

I dunno about the costs to produce the game but since it's technically just a port they should have made a decent amount of money. (Though I am surprised by the low Xbox 360 sales)

I do home R gets released here for consoles. It would be a shame if it didn't.

360 had low sales because it came out a YEAR after the PS3 version, and during the busiest holiday season almost in gaming history with SO many other killer games. If it had come out in the summer when it was originally planned with online, people would have bought it just because they had nothing else to play.

it's hard to say without knowning the production costs of VF5 but with a total of around 600,000 sold (based on Isoulle's numbers that doesn't include worldwide 360 sales) they most likely made a small amount of profit. Question is if that's enough to warrant a release of VF5R for the consoles in the future

Oh yes, and Japan's sales for the Xbox360 were like 8000. Who is surprised?

I dunno how good or bad they consider these numbers, but I thought I heard that EVO only sold 250K in North America which makes 5 look better. And business wise when/If they release R there will be a much higher console install base and thus higher sales in general. One of VF5's biggest enemies when it comes to high sales was that the consoles had low install rates thus there were less people to actually buy it. The fact that it sold that many units with so few systems (I mean, how many PS3's were bought world wide when VF5 was released, like 2 million. That's really low) If they do both a 360 and PS3 release in like two years then the install base of both systems combined might be 50-70 million as opposed to the 11-13 for when 5 was released.

    We can always hope
