1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. PS2 Evo tidbits from DoriMaga

The newest issue of DoriMaga has some very tasty new information about PS2 EVO, namely, regarding the new Quest mode. As you know, this mode has you travelling across Japan to participate in virtual tournaments with the goal of becoming VIRTUA MASTER. But there's more than that: Some of the tournaments have special rules. One was revealed in the magazine that has FV fans like me jumping up and down and screaming for joy: Hyper Action Battle Mode. If you've ever played Saturn FV or the arcade FV2 Special Edition, there's a Hyper mode accessable where your moves lost their recovery time and could be cancelled into each other. Think of something like the old custom combos of SFA2. Hyper Action Battle is exactly this: VF with techiniques that have ZERO RECOVERY TIME. Combos that would be absolutely ludicrous in a normal game are now possible under Hyper Action Battle rules! There even appears to be a combo counter. (I assume damage is likely toned down for everything to make it more fair, otherwise these matches would end really quickly...) Sounds like fun to me! There seem to be other special-rules tournaments as well, which have not yet been disclosed.

You'll also be able to "collect" lots of stuff: pictures, emblems, information of the opponents you're playing, and more.

Less than 2 weeks to go! Are you excited yet?

Do you think this Hyper Action Battle Mode will make some of the moves stronger? I mean letting moves like Akira's [4][6][6][P][K] send you flying all the way back and smashing on walls?

Heh, hopefully - for instance, making max-charged moves send an opponent through the ring; there's one quirk though, what about rings with no walls? One hit and your ROed? That'd suck.

Well I was thinking that this mode would be limited to stages with walls only or else as you said it wouldn't be fun

Well, no. It's just exaggerated combos in this mode, the physics are still the same. Maybe FV-style physics will be another special tournament mode. (I HIGHLY doubt it though.)

Well, you have to keep things in perspective, this is obviously not ment for serious play.

I know it's not meant for serious play; still, one hit KO/RO would suck, regardless of how seriously you take that mode. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hrm, personaly I dunno if I like a mode like that at VF, FV sure becouse physics etcetera are already overexagerated there so taking it a lil bit further aint that, hrmm I dunno.............

VF custom combos sounds good, although it would likely be a launcher fest. (Imagine Akira doing shrm x4.)

By the way, do you think this is limited to QUEST play or can it be accessed for Versus play?

This was available as a 'mode' in Fighters Megamix. Nothing really new here with the exception of it being VF4 moves instead of VF3 moves.

    cheers,

I believe it is just a quest-only thing. We shall soon see.

    Yes, excited. A LOT.
Hyper action mode sounds like a lot of fun. VF4Evo is shaping up as an even more complete home game than version C.

Hmm, maybe we can see the return of the senbon punch? /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yeah...or the unveiling of the senbon deep body check...This little mode looks to me like a stupidly fun diversion...what day is it again?
